Not necessarily. What will be lacking is the "Dharma". When you say Buddhist teaching it doesnt really correspond to the Dharma. I doubt it means "disappeared", it means that majority of the people will engage in violence and carnage, against your own family explicitly stated as "father for child, child for father, mother for child, child for mother" etc etc. Thus there will be some intellectuals who will hide in the wild because they cannot cope with this violence and will return once the recovery of virtue happens. But to this there will be a time when humans will have sexual awakening at the age of 5, then a life span of 10 years which is the worst period of deterioration, then it will improve to a life span of 80,000 years and the sexual awakening or maturity will happen at 500 years of age. It is then the Maithreya Buddha will appear. Thats from Chakkawatti sutra in the Dheega Nikaaya.

The same hadith says that the one who has been asked this question about the yawmal qiyamah doesnt know more than the one who is asking. But this prophecy is a sign for what is to come.

So I would say to your question it means the hour is near, not that its here.

Where did I say anything about life today isn't interesting? Building a tall building is science. The changing in the rights of women, and in the rights of people of any race or sexual identity is really interesting. I mean, who could predict that gays would be accepted by modern man?

Actually, homosexuality was accepted even in ancient times. Through time man has his ups and downs in acceptance. Thus, when we say the modern man is more accepting regarding homosexuality, we should know that it swings. For example, even the so called Muslim khalifate of the Ottoman Empire gave full homosexual rights way back in the 19th century. I think in 1853 or something very close to that year. Thus when did the modern man give that kind of rights to homosexuals? Think of the United States. When did they give homosexual rights?

The problem is that many religious traditions condemn those who are gay. This is a serious problem in the Abrahamic religions and is a huge evil in the world.
