Prophetic Proof Part 5

Isaiah 538

Enduring Christian
Concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ, David said in Psalm 16, "For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will you allow Your Holy One to undergo decay."

Of this the Apostle Peter explained, "Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And so, because he was a prophet and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON HIS THRONE, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY. This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses." (Acts 2:29-32)

Christ appeared several times to His followers after His resurrection. "After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep." (1 Corinthians 15:6) Many suffered physical torture and even death from persecution, but none ever went back on their testimony. The strength of many witnesses under these conditions is self-evident. As is the four written accounts, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Another instance of the resurrection we find back in Isaiah 53. After saying this one who bore our sorrows was 'cut off out of the land of the living', he says, "He will prolong His days." (vs.10)

Jesus Himself told His disciples three times that He would die and rise again in three days. But to the unbelieving He declared that the only sign they would get would be the sign of Jonah... who was in the belly of the great fish three days before being released.

Another passage which may be seen as a resurrection prophecy is Psalm 49:15, "But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me." While Psalm 16 is from David and speaks of the body not seeing corruption, this song was written by "the sons of Korah" and at least speaks of the resurrection of one who truly trust in God.

We are more than the bodies we live in. There is more, and eternal life awaits the believer. "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me." (John 14:6) A heavy, exclusive statement to be sure. But I believe I'm building a case that validates such a claim, and shows that Jesus Christ stands head and shoulders above all others, in all of history.

Through the resurrection of Christ we see that God accepted the holy sacrifice. It is His stamp of approval. For it is only through the power of God that it is possible.

And it is only through the power of God that Christ did so many healings and miracles. Of these the prophets also foretold, and I will explain next time, in part six.

Isa 56:10-12
(10) His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
(11) Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
(12) Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

Jer 11:19-20
(19) But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
(20) But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

Psa 116:15
(15)Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Prophetic Proof of Balaam teaching?
It is very upsetting to us, God does not sacrifice! God offered, man replied, so Inheritance and Grace were cut off….

Zec 11:8-15
(8) Three shepherds (Levites [Lawyers), Sadducees and Pharisees.) also I cut off in one month; and my soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.
(9) Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
(10) And I took my staff, even Grace (Beauty), and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
(11) And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
(12) And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
(13) And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.
(14) Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Inheritance (Bands), that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
(15) And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd (Pharisees and continues…...

Zec 4:7
(7) Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel (sown in Babylon) thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone (plummet-line) thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

Isa 53:1
(1) Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Isa 28:9-11
(9) Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand the report (doctrine)? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
(10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
(11) For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
