Prospective President Kamala Harris

Soandso

ᛋᛏᚨᚾᛞ ᛋᚢᚱᛖ
Did I say I am voting for an adjudicated rapist? No, I didn’t. I guess you mean DT. I used to live around the SF Bay Area, so I am familiar with Kamala Harris’ background. I personally don’t think she’s and less bankrupt politically or morally.

What can Harris do that's worse than raping and groping women? What has Harris done that's worse than attempting to steal top secret documents? What has Harris done that's worse than attempting a self coup, actively trying to subvert the constitution, and actively trying to subvert the will of the people to glom onto power? The guy is literally a convicted felon with many more convictions to come. Like... How bad can she be when compared to all the things Trump has done and will continue to do if he is elected president? How can anyone with a shot at the presidency compare to that?

She sort of stumbled on her first foray into the national light.

Learning is necessarily accompanied by mistakes and stumbles. Too often people are not given a second chance to show what they've learned. From what I've seen so far, she's *really* learned a lot.

Thank goodness I have four kids. I don't know anyone who doesn't have kids, by the way, but I'll take your word for it.
My wife and I have no kids. A number of friends are similarly childless. But ding-bat Vance thinks parents can't love step children because they're not *real* parents.

I would love to see us drill and become energy self sufficient.
I take it that you don't believe in climate change. And I also take it that we're not yet energy self-sufficient in spite of having more oil production than any other nation. 5 Countries with Highest Crude Oil Production in 2024 and U.S. Energy Independence Soars To Highest Level In Over 70 Years

I would love for us to bring inflation into normal limits.
Inflation has been coming down and is approaching "normal" levels now which I think is 2%. United States Inflation Rate

40 percent of our electricity comes from fossil fuels. And we weren't being forced to buy cars before the kinks were worked out. And don't get me started on the cost of a vehicle today. Which is why I am still driving my 2018 SUV.
SInce other sources are cheaper the natural progression is that 40% to decrease over time by adopting money saving measures.

I think the reality is that it doesn’t much matter who gets elected or which party dominates because it’s all political show and distraction…
That is not true today, if it ever was. We learned that in 2016, which resulted in (among many other harm) a seriously damaged SCOTUS and a criminally handicapped response to Covid-19.

Criticisms towards Biden and his policies tend to be based on much anything except facts.

Well, the PR department is off to a fine start. :) I especially like the last 40 seconds :smilingimp:

The Republicans at the Lincoln Project are good people. Keep'n it Real.
Why is everything so xxxx-ing Hollywood? Good message, annoying presentation.

Yes, a big problem. Every time Trump opened his mouth he told a lie. And not just little lies, big significant dangerous lies. That is a huge problem.

Oh ok. Biden was great. Yikes.
That is non-responsive. Whether Trump lies or not has no bearing on Biden whatsoever.

But it really ought to have a bearing on whether one votes for Trump or not.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps doing what he does best (by a very long margin): acting as if the whole of humanity existed to constantly reaffirm and protect his significance and his reputation.

And to exploit for his own profit, of course. He is the embodiment of greed and ego, after all. It's why the people that admire these traits admire him. He's unapologetically selfish: the highest idea of capitalism.

If not to you, then that is because you don't value what Biden accomplished. You don't value a successful Covid rollout. You don't value the economic package that saved jobs, supported the economy, provided child tax credits, and prevented evictions. You don't value pardoning marijuana prisoners, or bringing chip manufacturing home, or compensating veterans for burn pit exposure, or attempting to secure the border in the face of Republican interference, or the infrastructure bill, or capping the price on insulin.

You must value other things. Since you defend Trump in these threads and diss Biden, it must be the characteristics that only Trump has that you value more. Compared to Biden, Trump is authoritarian, crude, deceitful, dishonest, vainglorious, vengeful, a scofflaw, a sexual predator, and a fraud. Something about that package appeals to you more than what you get with a man like Biden.

And you're far from alone. Almost half of America shares your values.

Biden's greatest move to date may be sacrificing his own ambitions for the needs of the country in the face of an existential threat to democracy, egalitarianism, church-state separation, and the rule of law. People who value those things like Biden does (and Harris) are impressed with his recent decision and will include that among the great things he did as president. It's very Washingtonian of him to step down voluntarily. Other presidents that successfully steered America through existential crises include Lincoln and FDR (both in the top three of every survey cited in the chart below).

Here's how the last several presidents have been ranked according to a variety of surveys by historians. From Historical rankings of presidents of the United States - Wikipedia (go to the link to see what surveys and years these numbers represent). These results are all prior to Biden's recent move, which ought to elevate him into the top ten. The most recent survey (2024) ranks Trump 45th out of 46:

Is it fair to assume that your two favorite presidents from that list are Bush and Trump?

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Oh I believe in climate change. Still waiting for inflation to come down. It's insane, it really is.
