Prospective President Kamala Harris

My morning NYT email alerted me to the following piece in the Sacramento Bee:

the central question posed being: "But do Americans share enough disgust over Trump this year to forget their traditional misogyny when it comes to the top job?

We can expect more than enough sexist and misogynistic attacks (here as well as elsewhere) against "DEI Harris." Let's hope that this serves only to amplify the breadth and depth of the disgust over the MAGA-Project 2025 team.
I expect this. I can say all day how I opposer her policies and ideas but it won't matter in the end, I will be told I won't vote for her because she is a woman. This happened with Clinton as well. Ho hum.

I feel so stupid! Until this thread started, I hadn't even considered her gender as having any bearing.

Canadians, eh? Just no idea what's important!
In the (D) party it’s about how things look and feel! In order to appease self imposed guilt they want to be able to say “fist black president” “first female president” “fist black female Jamaican Asian president”. Next it will be “first trans president” who may rotate genders and racial identity throughout its term!

FWIW, if you tell me that her gender and ethnic heritage has nothing to do with your upcoming vote, I'm more than willing to take you at your word. I'm also more than willing to expect you to repudiate any sexist and/or ethnic slurs issued by those you support.

I've spent much of this morning thinking about a Harris/Buttigieg ticket. At least a good part of me would love to see it. (Try Googling something akin to "Kamala Buttigieg Pence" for fun.)

Yes, I know that the white Christian nationalists will wax rabid at the prospect, but I suspect that those who will not vote for that ticket would not have voted for the ticket anyway.

I, too would like to see that ticket. I think it would be a good one.

However, practicality really does suggest her running mate should be a governer, one from a swing state -- and male! Which sadly rules out Gretchen Whitmer. She'd give JD Vance a run for his money, I can confidently say. But of course, Buttigieg could mop the floor with Vance, too.

I remember similar questions before Obama was elected. Then it was racism. Now it's gender. Obama proved that the right candidate can win in spite of not being white. Harris can do the same with gender.

Many people said they wanted an alternative to Biden and Trump. Now their wish has been fulfilled. Harris is female and young. It's up to her to make the case to the disaffected that she's a better choice.
