Prospective President Kamala Harris

Katzpur

Not your average Mormon
I've spent much of this morning thinking about a Harris/Buttigieg ticket. At least a good part of me would love to see it. (Try Googling something akin to "Kamala Buttigieg Pence" for fun.)

Yes, I know that the white Christian nationalists will wax rabid at the prospect, but I suspect that those who will not vote for that ticket would not have voted for the ticket anyway.
I would like to see that, too. In fact he would be my personal first choice. And it's a plus that we wouldn't lose a senate seat in the process. Still, I can't help wondering if having a gay man as her running mate would hurt Kamala's chances of winning. Some people are going to have a hard enough time voting for a black woman but will do so because they hate Trump so much. Would putting Buttigieg on the ticket be the straw that broke the camel's back?

Very probably. Especially since he's never held an elected office other than mayor.

The problem is not enough time for Butigieg to put the competition to shame intellectually vs the cage match we have scheduled so lets keep him around to deal with Congress and make fools of them.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
To put a more positive spin on it, you prefer the RNC over the DNC, even though Donald Trump essentially owns the RNC. You vote for policies, and you prefer Republican stands on the issues, just not Donald Trump.
That's about right.

First and foremost: for whatever reason I haven't seen you around lately, and I have very much missed you.

As for your question, I guess the answer much depends on who or what the camel represents. I was pleased to read

which reports:

Many names have been floated, such as Buttigieg and governors Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Andy Beshear of Kentucky. However, several recent polls have shown Buttigieg as a top choice among Democratic voters.
A poll conducted by PBS News/NPR/Marist this month found 21 percent of voters saying they'd like to see Harris choose Buttigieg. Whitmer also received 21 percent in the poll, while 17 percent sided with Shapiro and 13 percent said Arizona Senator Mark Kelly.
On Thursday, the University of New Hampshire released the results of a poll among Democratic voters in Maine that found Buttigieg as the leading choice with 21 percent, 17 percent for Kelly, 7 percent for Shapiro, 6 percent for Beshear and 3 percent for Whitmer.
The FairVote organization also released the results of its ranked choice poll that found Buttigieg as a top choice among Democratic or undecided voters. The poll gave respondents a number of choices for a Harris running mate and, in the ninth round of voting, 52 percent chose a ticket with Harris and Buttigieg on it, compared to 48 percent with Harris and Whitmer.

One thing seems certain: a Harris-Buttigieg victory would speak volumes and give hope to much of America and the world.

Take care, my friend. :greenheart:

I am sorry but like I've been saying, it's a difference in terminology, not a matter of honesty or dishonesty.
It's a difference in terminology. There is the honest, accurate terminology, and then there is your dishonest, inaccurate terminology. Again, you know your way of describing it is wrong. You do it that way on purpose, because you're trying to get an emotional response.

I don't even think I used that terminology though I could be wrong.

Oh I WAS wrong! Wrong about using that terminology, wrong to trigger you, but not wrong to use that terminology in general. @Magic Man.

On the other hand, I would be more than happy with a Kamala Harris | Tim Walz ticket. Thanks to Walz, it's becomming near impossible to think of Trumps VP pick without the word WEIRD coming to mind. :) See:

I think Buttigieg would cost votes (unfortunately), but who knows?

These things can be difficult to predict, and I still think that there are very, very few people still undecided or likely to change their votes from now on. This ellection may be close in the numerical sense, but the ideological division is very sharp and unaccomodating.

"Weird" and "Dangerous" are not mutually exclusive terms.

I saw the video earlier today. I still prefer Buttigieg, but I can definitely appreciate the merits of having Walz as VP.

I just think he would not necessarily bring in more votes. I think (I hope) Harris already has the constituency that Buttigieg appeals to, and unfortunately those who would object to Buttigieg are unlikely to vote for Harris in any case.

I think Harris should pick someone to appeal to those voters that are getable, but that she is not currently getting.

(although a debate between Vance and Buttigieg would be something to see)
