No, both sides will pay legal expenses when someone is sued personally for something related to their position in the party. Covering legal costs unrelated to party business is unusual, especially when it involves stuff that happened before the person held a position with the party.

Political parties spend to defend or advance the party's position. Trumpster is the most effective campaigner they have, unfortunately. Politicians protect their assets, I have no problem with how either party spends their money.Obviously, I don't financially support either party.
