Question about Jesus "God" and other prophets

I need a little help here, and I hope this is the right board to ask this on. Personally I believe in Jesus(as a human) and prophets of other religions. I believe that the various prophets were just the best and wisest of Mankind(or perhaps those that were more in tune with whatever.) Their purpose was to help guide humanity, give us guidelines and ideas of how we should live.
As far as God goes, I feel that I'm rather agnostic, as in there probably is a singular God who created everything, is omnipotent, etc. But I have a hard time believing that God exists in the way that most religions seem to view him. It seems arrogant to believe that God loves humans above all other living creatures and has any real interest in us as individuals.

Anyway..... my actual question, considering the above text, Am I a christian, a heretic, Is there a word for what I believe? Does one have to believe in God to be a Christian or am I looking at this in a too "black or white" way?:help:

CA , pardon my opinion friend but I would say you are a ' don't know ' or ' ignorant ' as very many are. It's how we all start out. No one is born with the true facts that need to be known for a future eternal existence God has planned for man. These truths are revealed gradually by God to those willing to be obedient to him.
So I would say that Believing in God is the most important requirement necessary to begin the process of salvation. Have a look at Heb.11v6. :)
Our personal beliefs will only lead us astray ! :help:

Checked this out already?

I think you should let your faith grow instead of thinking too much about labeling.

Anyone who, although recognises the parts of truth in other religions, finds comfort in the words of Christ, is a Christian, regardless of creed or beliefs. :)

Yes, I am sure you are looking at this in a too "black and white" way. God does not love anyone better or more than another. His love is universal through the natural laws. Private love is an emotion; and being God incorporeal, He is not like a man to be moved by emotions. So, you might want to add some shades of color in that your
"black and white" way to see things. It is not too wise to go paranoid about these things.

Confused Agnostic asked "... considering the above text, Am I a christian, a heretic, Is there a word for what I believe? Does one have to believe in God to be a Christian or am I looking at this in a too "black or white" way "

The savor of Pan said : "In conventinal Christanity your a Heretic, but so am I."

Beta said : "...I would say you are a ' don't know ' or ' ignorant ' as very many are. It's how we all start out."
Confused Agnostic;

I believe that Beta is correct, that you are NOT a “heretic” to Christianity, but are in the same position as we all start out in. Most of us come are initially unsure as to belief options, and what we are to believe FROM those options, rather we come to our beliefs over time. I believe that Pan’s opinion that you would be a heretic does NOT reflect authentic christianity, but rather it reflects the personality of a small portion of Christians who would make that claim. If you notice, there is a LOT of disagreement and arguing among christians as to what ARE authentic christian beliefs.

Simple Agnosticism and/or ignorance and/or indecision due to lack of data are not heresy. For example : I believe early, authentic Judao-Christianity did NOT view infants or young children as heretics (since their beliefs were unformed and they had not yet formed beliefs on any number of religious principles).

In any case, I wish you good luck in your investigations as to what you are to believe among the myriads of competing claims.
