Question about the Quran

MSizer

MSizer
Hey, this is addressed to anyone who can answer correctly (it's not opinion based). I've heard a few times Muslims say that they believe the Quran is divinely inspired because it contains predictions about the world that the prophet could not possibly have made on his own. Can somebody give me some examples please? One example I heard was that he stated that the solar bodies are not fixed, but that they are dynamic. I think many people could have guessed that and been right just by chance. If I know the Quran contained many such examples, I'd agree it's worth considering the plausibility, so anyone who knows of other examples, please let me know.

:help:
Thanks.
M.

Even as a Muslim I wasn't convinced by the Quran science claims, and I've come across other Mulims who would agree. Zakir Naik is one of the main guys that makes claims about the Quran having scientific miracle, so you might want to check out some of his lectures on YouTube.

Response: Perhaps you are referring to what we muslims call the "scientific miracles." In the qur'an, there are verses revealed to Muhammad(pbuh) about the universe and earth which was only recently discovered by scientists today due to the advanced technology of today. However, there was no advanced technology 1400+ years ago for Muhammad(pbuh) to have known some of the things mentioned in the qur'an which makes it a miracle. One example is:

"And He it is Who has caused the two seas to flow, this palatable and sweet, and that salt and bitter; and between them He has placed a barrier and an insurmountable partition."(Ch. 25:53)

Today, we know that when the two bodies of water meet,(the salt and the sweet), neither bodies of water loses its salinity in the process due to surface tension. This has been discovered recently through advanced science. However, how did an illiterate man in the desert 1400 years ago know this? Where did he get such knowledge from? The knowledge had to come from none other than Allah(swt), the creator and originator of the universe and life itself.

Hmmm, I appreciate the answer Fatihah, but I think it's wrong though. Water salinities do combine. That's what brackish water is - a combination of salt and fresh water, usually found in estuaries. I'm not trying to shoot you down, I appreciate the info (it's exactly an answer to what I was asking), but I don't see how the verse is a correct one. Furthermore, if it were true that water of different salinities did not mix, it would have been true 1400 years ago, and there are both salt and freshwater bodies in the middle east, so I don't see why it's so difficult to believe he would have known this (incorrect) fact. I realize this is not supposed to be a debate area, so I guess I'm pushing the envelope here. No disrespect intended.

Response: None taken. Yes, it is true that the salinity did not mix 1400 years ago as well but it was only recently discovered through andvanced technology and science of today that did not exists 1400 years ago, making it a miracle.

Surely, one can simply say that this is untrue. But saying so is not actual proof that it is so.

The evil of their course seems pleasing to them. But Allah guideth not those who reject faith." (9:36-37)

18) Ordained orbits of celestial bodies:
"And the moon, we have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old, (withered, and curved-up like a sickle) date-palm. It is not permitted for sun to catch-up the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; each swims along in (its own) orbit." (36:39-40)
19) Sun and moon continue in an orbit to their destiny:
"He created heavens and the earth in true proportions; He makes night overlap day and day overlap night and subjected the sun and the moon (to His Law); each one runs its course for a term appointed." (39:5)
20) Do not Prostrate to the Sun and Moon:

Um, nice lazy cut and paste of someone else's misinformed pseudoscience. If that's proof to you, no wonder you believe someone rode a winged horse overnight to mecca or jerusalem or wherever it was supposed to have been.

Because ascension is nothing but a fairy tale no matter who the story is about - Mohamed, Jesus or anybody else.

M.

I will try to give some examples , then i will point your attention toward a e-book (its free) which contains many examples you demand, so you have better understanding.

Holy Quran says

“This day shall We save you in your body, that you may be a Sign to those who come after you! But verily, many among mankind are neglectful of Our Signs”
(Quran 10:92)

This ayat(verse) is about Pharoh ,How can a book existed 1400 years ago speak about the mummy that was only found 200 years ago, in 1898?

Consider the following Qur’aanic verse: “And before Solomon were
marshaled His hosts – of Jinns and men And birds, and they were all
Kept in order and ranks. “At length, when they came To a (lowly) valley
of ants, One of the ants said: ‘O ye ants, get into Your habitations, lest
Solomon And his hosts crush you (Under foot) without knowing it.’” [Al-
Qur’aan 27:17-18]

In the past, some people would have probably mocked at the Qur’aan, taking
it to be a fairy tale book in which ants talk to each other and communicate
sophisticated messages. In recent times, research has shown us several facts
about the lifestyle of ants, which were not known earlier to humankind.
Research has shown that the animals or insects whose lifestyle is closest in
resemblance to the lifestyle of human beings are the ants. This can be seen
from the following findings regarding ants:

(a) The ants bury their dead in a manner similar to the humans.
(b) They have a sophisticated system of division of labour, whereby they
have managers, supervisors, foremen, workers, etc.
(c) Once in a while they meet among themselves to have a ‘chat’.
(d) They have an advanced method of communication among themselves.
(e) They hold regular markets wherein they exchange goods.
(f) They store grains for long periods in winter and if the grain begins to
bud, they cut the roots, as if they understand that if they leave it to
grow, it will rot. If the grains stored by them get wet due to rains, they
take these grains out into the sunlight to dry, and once these are dry,
they take them back inside as though they know that humidity will
cause development of root systems and thereafter rotting of the grain.

Now , will recommend you to please downlad the e-book , which contains many examples like

CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE: ‘THE BIG BANG’
THE SPHERICAL SHAPE OF THE EARTH
THE SUN ROTATES
THE SUN WILL EXTINGUISH AFTER A CERTAIN PERIOD
THE PRESENCE OF INTERSTELLAR MATTER
THE EXPANDING UNIVERSE
THE WATER CYCLE
MOUNTAINS ARE LIKE PEGS (STAKES)
DARKNESS IN THE DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN
EVERY LIVING THING IS MADE OF WATER
EVERYTHING MADE IN PAIRS
HONEY HAS HEALING PROPERTIES
BLOOD CIRCULATION AND THE PRODUCTION OF MILK
FOETUS PROTECTED BY THREE VEILS OF DARKNESS
PAIN RECEPTORS PRESENT IN THE SKIN and many more

Please download the book from Here. http://www.sunnahonline.com/ilm/quran/qms.pdf

Well, the guy above dosent know what the thread is about. Lets see.
I wount be giving you the verses, since i donot remember them. but ill be stating what they say :). If u want i can find them for u though.

The Quran mentions the moon having reflected light from the sun. Quiet impossible to know that 1400 years ago.

Salt water and fresh water having a barrier between them.

Every living creature made of water. In the deserts of arabia, who would have known that?

Mountains stabalizing the earth. Well not exactly but they direct the earthquakes to themselves. You feel me? Like doctors do to the sick? Has been proven by modern geology. Written in the Quran 1400 years ago.

The Big band, proven fact. Written in the Quran. The guy above quoted the wrong line.

Many more. Awaiting your answer.
