Question for all religious people.

If a person is an atheist and he had lived his life as a good, honest and hardworking person, always helping other people, loving his family and friends and not having evil thoughts about anyone or anything and eventually he dies-my question is: where does his soul goes-to the heaven or to hell?

Both faith and good needs are necessary for the progress of a soul in both this world and the world to come. However only God can judge another soul. It is for each one of us to live life the best we can today.

Neither. Many faiths don't have the heaven/hell concept.

My best guess? Neither.

BTW: it is an error to presume that being religious necessarily entails a belief in an afterlife.

If he didn't love God or give God thanks he would be under condemnation
but... it's not a real example because not thanking God is a form of evil

I take it that you think of atheists and religious people as mutually exclusive groups?

Your privilege, but not a very clarifying choice. Same for the decision to exclude religious that do not use the concepts of soul, heaven and hell.

In any case, my personal answer is that of course it goes to hell, where it can do the most good for those in worst need. How could he do any less?

God would never send such an atheist to a place filled with religious fanatics.

To a much better place than if you did all of the opposite things and claimed to be a Christian.

If I were God, I would ask him what he would like. Maybe he doesn't want to get the jackpot "going to heaven". And me being God could of course create Heaven and Hell if they were not yet in existence. Else, if I am not God, I can't tell you what would happen.

Welcome to RF.

I believe after you die God will judge what to do with you. I also believe He doesn't go by your opinion of yourself.

I believe that partially works for today but does not work for the end of the world.
