Question to LDS members

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
My new friend here in Norway is an American man who are an LDS, and even he has not been in Norway for a long time, he actually write and speak Norwegian language very well :)

But my question is : does Missionaries from LDS study the language in theirnew country even before getting there?
( I have not yet asked him this)

The church provides some language training before sending missionaries to speak a foreign language. It differs some but I think 4-6 weeks is typical.

Thank you for the reply :) if he only learned it for a month before getting here he did a heck of a good study :)

There is good training. However I think the Lord provides a ton of blessings as languages can be hard. Back 100 or so years ago we had no language training and just asked missionaries to learn while in the land. That was pretty tough.

I doubt he will care.

It’s not allowed in our beliefs, but hardly odd to be around people drinking coffee. I served coffee for year working different jobs it never bothered me.
