Quite a cool story of Jewish-Muslim co-operation

I just read this today, and thought the message, and the story, was quite cool:

Marc Gopin: Thanks to the Imam, My Little Son Got Serious About Synagogue

I really like the last part of the article as well:

I watched a second birth, the birth of a human being who seeks out what is beyond, at first through the worship practices of the fathers and the mothers, through the ceremonies of the ancients, through engaging what has come before.
For that second birth of my son, I have Imam Yahya Hendi to thank, a Palestinian who just buried his father back home in bad circumstances, who is fatherless now, just like me, trying to make the world safe for his beloved children. I see him there on the grass, hands raised, palms up, the stars blazing above, saying his ancient words, Allahu Akbar. I think to myself, yes, sometimes God is great, when we find the Divine Presence in the eyes of strangers, and in the loving words of long lost cousins. And I think that this year I inaugurated my Isaac on a good journey.
I like how there was mutual respect between the 2 faiths, and how the Imam reached out to Christians and Jews in respect and peace. It would be good if this could become common througout the world.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it too :).

I love this story. I was born in Israel, my family is from Iraq and I have been close to 5 terrorist attacks. I should and do have right to be hostile, suspcious and so on but yet, I do not. I do not hate Arabs or the Palestinians, I do not hate Muslims and since I have been to America I have realized that we really aren't that different. I have a lot of Muslim friends and have been to gatherings such as this and I have felt the same as this man. On the one hand, it's amazing and truly a delight to witness fellow human beings, praising G-d, in the tongue of their fathers just as I bear witness and praise G-d in the tongue of my fathers. It really does help strengthen my own faith and my own indentity. Perhaps one day, we can get past this bloodshed and this hatred and put aside mortal wants and politics but as it stands, I'm not so certain.

Unity and brotherhood of all Abrahamic peoples is my most cherished dream, and I can only pray that eventually hate and discord will be eventually overcome by our love of our G-d.

Shalom, Salaam, Peace.

Thanks for posting that video, xkatz, that was really amazing to watch, hopefully, events like that will spread (not just in America, but, elsewhere in the world), it would be great to see harmony between the World Religions. The optimist in me would love to see Jews and Muslims (& Christians) come together like that in Israel, and the rest of the Middle East, although, I know, it's probably a long way from getting there.
