I thought we ought to have a thread where you can post random pieces of information that nobody ever really needed to know. So here goes, I have a few.

Actually, that ones' a fallacy. Some researchers taught goldfish to run a maze, which would be impossible if the goldfish had effectively no memory. For reasons known only to themselves - and presumably the people who approved the grant for the research (proving you can get a grant for anything) - they then introduced alchohol into the equation. They came up with the following results:



A goldfish can be taught to run a maze.

If you then intoxicate the goldfish, it can't remember how to run the maze until it sobers up again.

If you teach it to run the maze whilst intoxicated, it wont be able to do it while sober. If you give it a couple of gin fizzes, it regains the ability to run the maze.



I'm sure there was some reason these people were given money to come up with all this, but it escapes me.

And uh, feathers... there are some sea creatures I try to avoid! Luckily, their eyes are SOOOO humongous that they would be blinded by merely a star lit sky. They stay WAY deep.

Well, I don't know about there in America, but I can tell you for a fact that they aren't made with beef flavouring here.

~ It's impossible to 'sweat like a pig', because pigs don't sweat...that's why they have to roll in mud to cool down.
