Reading the titles

Do you guys read the titles of forums "and" threads before you post?

I got into the habit of doing that but I assume a few don't and was wondering if that's important or overlooked?

To me it seems pointless of making disclaimers, notes, and things like that... so

I should make sure I understand the context of the thread but I sometimes forget.

A lot of folks simply forget to read which area a thread is in, so I think disclaimers are helpful.

I almost always forget to check what forum its in, but I always check the thread title(to see if I'm even interested in the thread).

I can't remember when I made it a habit. Mostly because the disclaimers make me go nearly blind so I'll look and ignore it if it's not applicable to me. Saves me from a headache actually.

Add to that: threads that "specifically" ask for X but people want to devalue the question and derail it to debate Y. That's frustrating in itself.

I check if it's a DIR thing but don't bother otherwise. I mainly just stalk @SalixIncendium.

You won't see this in all forbidden DIRs unfortunately. For example, if you're a Muslim you still have access to every other DIR under the Abrahamic parent DIR even though you're not allowed to post there. Checking where you're posting is still crucial in many cases.

There has been more than once I posted a comment just to delete it because I realized I am not supposed to post in the sub-forum I posted it in.

I read the more recent posts in the thread, usually. But not all of them if it's a long thread. In fact, I don't usually post in a long thread because I figure the topic will have strayed far from the OP.

As to DIRs and forum categories, I rarely notice them. Sorry.

Wouldn't that make sense? Muslims jews, Christians are abrahamic.

not really, which is why she specified the sub-forums in the "Abrahamic parent DIR".
Muslims are allowed to post in the Islam sub-forum, but not allowed to post in the Christian sub-forum.
However, the software does not recognize the folder tree that far when it comes to posting permissions.

She wasn't clear (not a blame). Muslims are able to post under the "general" Abrahamic parent DIR, but only the Muslim sub-DIRs. Whoever reads it would get the point I assume nonetheless.

You can go into any DIR you want.
You can read what is posted in them.
You are merely not allowed to post in DIRs you are not affiliated with.
The disclaimers/warnings/etc. are to remind you that you are in a DIR and to keep that in mind before posting in it.

Yes.
However, doing so is a rule violation

To the best of my knowledge they can't.
However, there are clues that lead to the asking.

Yeah. This was the point. There was a recent rule about not choosing a DIR if you are a former member of that religion.
