I'll help you out, if you like. Everywhere you make a joke and use the word 'Fosters', instead insert the word 'XXXX'. This is an actual beer that many Australians drink, and it approximately halfway between river water and Shetland Pony wee. (I'd say horse wee, but pretty sure horse wee would at least have a full body to it). This still doesn't help our American friends, since Bud is clearly much worse again. But as a Pom you could score some points.

We've heard of XXXX lager here, I feel sure. Tonight I watched a Foster's advert which showed drought thirsty Aussies all licking their lips and swooning over that drink. I told my wife what you had said about it and we both laughed about it all!

The man could write. He also had a tendency to fall for complete bunkum in his own life. We're far less literate, and far more grounded.

I didn't know about Conan-Doyle's private life. Isn't it amazing how so many of the finest artists, musicians, writers etc are totally messed up inside?

Only in the south. And the main reason I was thinkin of Zeland rather than Oz was on account of me friends in New Zeland. They inducted me into their ways. I haven't found many New Zelander's since but plenty of Ozzies. I am going to Oz next summer (or your winter I guess) or at least that is the plan. Gonna see Sydney and meet on some work stuff.

Ha ha! True! The Oz dollar is worth slightly less, somewhere around 85% of the US dollar.

I've tried to be the most rude member on this thread, it's true, being just as crude about us English, just to balance things a bit.

But the answer to 'which is better' lies in the answers which they give about their own countries. On the whole, on average, I think that US members moan and criticise their own country. Their President is no good. Government no good. Their cops are no good, etc. Nothing is any good.

But you ask Oz members about their country and they will be, on average, much more positive, even proud, of their country. The only neg I've read on RF is that Melbourne sucks, (probably 'cos it's posh! )!

My NZ Granny used to rave about the NZs and Ozs and both their lands. Best countries in the World, she said. And I tell you what..... the way the World is going..... they are.
