The mosaic law cannot be used now by God or men as it was intended. In the not top distant future God will settle all matters. There is no defense for wrongdoing. Which is what the episode was really all about in the Garden of Eden. You surely must understand that people today hurt other people, sometimes without mercy, cruelly.
That doesn't explain why god would forbid many harmless and benign things yet would condone atrocities and injustices?
Such a sick, sadistic, sociopathic portrayal of god. Fortunately, it was nothing more than the wacky imagination of ancient goat herders.

I'm curious of your opinion on the merits of being self-reliant rather than waiting for someone/something else to save us?

Is anyone really saved who is not self-reliant, who is dependent?

Well, the whole point of a religious institution is to make otherwise self-reliant people dependent.

It's Marketing 101: Convince people that they have a problem, and they'll pay you for the "solution."

Gun laws have been changed. Would you say people have improved society?

Society has changed. The temple in Jerusalem was destroyed. But thank you for your comment.

Society has indeed changed.
The Temple in Jerusalem has been destroyed,
the dodo was hunted to extinction,
the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles,
The Beatles broke up,
Adam Sandler keeps making movies.

Granted, these are all unfortunate events, but nothing an omnipotent deity couldn't work around.

He is going to change things. It was not a real good time when Jerusalem was overrun by the Roman armies. It isn't a real good thing for people to be gunned down in the streets. To make fun of these things is also not a good thing. Yes, things will change in a major way.

If you look at everything? Yes, things have gotten much better over the years. Better morals, better general well being in the world. Much more charity. On going attempts to bring up everyone. That did not exist even fifty years ago.
Lol ok. I was hoping that wouldn't be your answer. Enjoy...

What's unfortunate about Adam Sandler movies ?
I can't speak for others but personally I enjoy his humour.

Things are constantly changing in major ways.
"More of the same," isn't very impressive, as prophecies go.

You seem to have Christianity mixed up with Islam. It's Islam that believes that the Qur'an is the literal, verbatim word of God (in the original classical Arabic). In Christianity, Jesus Christ is the Word of God, as the opening verses of John make clear - not a book. It's all about Christ, the Person, Who lives and reigns with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, as the prayer goes.

Are you familiar with the Fundamentalist Christian notion of 'verbal plenary' inspiration of the Bible?
