Religion and Politics

We Never Know

No Slack
Have your ever noticed one or the other or both control everyones life?

Either you believe in a god and promote it or you don't believe in a god and demote it.

You either support democrats and are against republicans or you support republicans and are against democrats.

Have you noticed politics and religion control 99% of people in the world?

When people disagree, argue, fight, etc its either over religion and/or politics.

I will say there are more then 2 political ideologies. And religious views. There's more then Christianity or Athiesm. I am not for republicans or democrats. I am also a pagan. I don't force these views on anyone they are just my opinion.

Amen! Though admittedly I don’t have dems or Republicans where I live.
Same thing happens though
People cling to religion or even their political affiliation and take great offence if you question that about them

I have strong political views. I have strong views about religion. Neither controls my life. I spend relatively little time thinking about either. I spend far more time interacting with family or sitting on the patio, feeling the breeze and the sunshine or flight simming or cooking, or, or...

Why does it seem strange to you, a person presumably living in a modern industrialized state, with police, prisons, a justice system, a standard currency and a central bank, roads and highways, hospitals, health insurance, unemployment benefits, corporate subsidies, taxation and environmental regulations, that people would have a vested interest in who governs them and whose needs they consider legitimate?

Humans create governments because humans need to control themselves and each other to live together successfully. And humans are a social-cooperative species, so figuring out how to live together successfully is paramount.

The purpose of government is to determine what needs to be done for the well-being of the whole society, and to ensure that these happen, because the individuals within that society will not do so of their own accord. So it is endemic that all governments end up telling the individuals within their society what they can and cannot do relative to the well-being of the whole society. It's what they are for, and what they are intended to do.

It's true that organized religions sometimes try to become, replace, or usurp the responsibilities of government, as they tend to share some of the responsibilities of governing in common. However, it is paramount to the health of nearly every human society not to mix the presumed authority of their gods with the conferred authority of their government. To do so nearly always ends in disaster, because governance, done correctly, is done by humans, for humans, with the permission of the humans being governed. Whereas religions are executed by a presumed divine edict, and therefor accept no input from the people they presume to govern.

It is sad and troubling to me how many people do not yet understand these basic facts and functions regarding government and religion. And instead just wallow in their own ignorance and selfishness regarding them both. This does not bode well for the future of humanity.

People who want their religion to heavily influence Governmental actions should move to someplace like Iran or Saudi Arabia.

What they should do is learn the difference in purpose between religion and government, and why it's important not to confuse of conflate them.

To many people, there is no difference between religion and government. And that's what they like and want. Unless it is someone else's religion on which the Government is based, then it's just awful.
