Religion Based on a Pilot

I once read about a religion of a small tribal people I believe that was started due to a pilot landing his plane in their area. The pilot may've been a WWII pilot but I'm not sure. The people's thought him a God if memory serves and sometimes dressed like him. I think the pilot was not stranded and left the are at some time. Thanks.

Yeah, I watched something about that once. Or something similar, where plains were airdropping food, and they would create replicas of the planes and worship them
