Religion in my book

Lady Crimson

credo quia absurdum
I am currently writing a book and I wish to ask you what you think of the religion I am creating.

Well, in my book...the popular religion (the most spread) is the religion of Alai (not to be confused with Allah). Alai is the Sky God appearing in the shape of a great blue Dragon with only back legs and big wings (as to cover the whole world in it's embrace). It has one big yellow eye (named Gar, representing the world's sun) and one smaller red eye (named Erumen, representing the red moon of the land).

Alai didn't create the world in my story. While traveling the Universe he came across a great ball of ice. He was weary of his travels and rested on the ball covering the whole teritory with his wings. He fell asleep and when he woke up he noticed that he had melted the ice. The world was now warm and alive. He could not bare to leave. so he stayed, keeping the world warm. Not to get to tired he rests one eye at a time. A part keeping Gar open, a part keeping Erumen open.

He couldn't see the people to well. They were to small. So, he made another God, a protector of this world, The Wolf God, Grum. He makes sure the humans don't kill each other and that there is order in the land.

So...in total...they have two Gods.

What do you think of my ideas?...please be honest...and if you want to hear more feel free to ask. :D

Sounds interesting Lady C . Being a one time D&D player , I have created my own words , and had one that was a sleeping dragon ... the world that is . The only advice that I have is that in any belief system where there is more then one god , where is tends to be enough to cover every important asspect of life . As your world stands , how do the people explain conflict ? Grum makes sure that people don't kill one another ? There is no conflict ?

Have fun with this . :) The part I enjoyed about D&D was the creation of the worlds .

Sounds fine; where do these 'Gods' come from - or have they always been there? - are they related?:)

I think it sounds really interesting. I like the part where he only rests one eye at a time. That's really cool.

Well...the people in my book dn't fell the need to explain their existence. They're thankfull to be alive. You see, not even Alai knows how the world came to be. He just woke up one day and noticed that the ice ball was now a living planet.

Yes, well it appears I didn't express myself to well. Permit me to reformulate. Grum makes sure there is a balance between good and evil, peace and war, order and chaos. There are many conflicts, just as there are many times of peace. Grum maintains this balance.

No one actually knows where they come from. They're just thankfull they're there

i like books. tell me when it comes out so i can read it.
Let us know when you've finished your book. I look forward to reading it.
sure will! :D

Will this be your first book, or do you have others?
Yes, it will be my first book. It will take a couple of years till it is over for I have two volumes to write.

Oh, I need to add another thing. The people who believe this religion don't actually worship the Gods. They're just thankfull as I have mentioned before. Thanks for all the questions and 'congrats'. :D

Or I didn't quite understand . :)

Cool . It sounds interesting . And I didn't mean to criticize your work Lady C . Just giving a little advice . Often things like that don't come into a story , but having an idea gives depth to the story , to the world . At else that is what I have found in D&D . And the more depth the world has , the more it evolves . Of course , there is a limit to how much time and energy one wants to put into it ... which is where the enjoyment comes into play . :) Both for the writer and the reader .

Hmmm , it sounds as if I'm turning this into a job . :) I don't mean to . As I said , I have always enjoyed creating worlds . And I hope that you enjoy creating yours .

BTW I see no reason to have more Gods if the two fullfill the needs of the people . A world should also have mystery . :)
