Which world religion or religions do you feel are likely to overtake Christianity in the future? We're not necessarily talking the near future here. Also on the poll- choose as many as apply.

Generally I oppose the herd mentality. Whatever religion or ideas rise to dominate will shortly thereafter fall. The ideas that make sense but never capture the popular landscape seem to endure time the best.

Christianity and Islam will remain as major forces. But Agnosticism, Atheism, Deism and probably Animism will grow as well.

To add on, I feel like we will see Islam and Buddhism gain more ground in "the West". This is just my opinion however and not fact.

Right now, Christianity is the fastest growing religion, with Islam being in second. Those are the two largest religions, and I don't see them being over passed by any other religion any time soon.

I am curious, I want to know why someone voted for Judaism, or maybe even Taoism for that matter?

Yeah, we all know Judaism will never be the dominate world religion. It's a belief system held by a specific ethnic group.

I don't know but if the religion did become dominant, I would question how. Most violence has been used in the name of religion in order to create a certain majority, but anything is possible I guess.

I think as we move into a more ecologically unstable world, the earth-based religions will come to the fore. I sense that we feel that what we are doing is wrong and imbalanced, which may be reflected in our spirituality as a way of correcting it. If we go purely by numbers of those 'born into a religion' (a heinous concept), then Islam or Christianity will probably dominate. If that's the case, then gaining an ecological awareness is imperative within these faiths. The track record's not been too good so far...

Greetings!

Your poll is arguably defective in that it doesn't include the Baha'i Faith as one of the choices!

Peace, :)
