Religious Belief & Personal Choice

I've noticed a few posts in which personal choice--how many kids to have, when to have them, how to raise one's family, to work or not to work, etc.--have conflicted with posts regarding the belief that God has a particular plan for each of us, a plan that should not be meddled with.
I think it's interesting for a person to have the "come what may" belief, which to me implies that the person has put all his/her faith in God. I believe that when things become uncertain in life--finances, health, career, etc.--one must put his/her faith in God rather than ignore His power and attempt to control everything. On the other hand, I also believe that one can't expect guidance and help from prayer alone, but that some sort of effort needs to be made on one's behalf. We're not tumbleweeds. Even if we make personal choices that put us in some control of our lives, our futures, God will still understand our intentions and plans and bless us along the way. His plans for each of us doesn't change just because of our personal choices.

What say you?

How interesting! You can use the story of Jonah as an example-- Jonah did not want to preach to Ninevah so ran away but he couldn't run away from God. After the big fish fiasco, Jonah did go to preach to Ninevah. His decisions did not change that He had to do what God commanded him to do.

Great post!

Life is making choices. How and why you make them will vary from person to person and according to the situation, all depeding on endless lists of factors, religion being one.
