"Religious" Buildings ie. the Church, Cathederals

Ever wondered about how resources are best used. Ever wonder if the value structures of our religious leaders need scrutiny? How much money do you think has been and is currently being ploughed into these structures? Are there not enough places of worship available already? Could we not rather use community centres and the likes?? Could these resources not be put to better use??

I don't know either... but I believe a responsible church wanting to work within in the community would use their buildings and grounds as a community center of sorts. As long as people are giving money to the church, the church itself has the right to decide how to spend that money. So, it may seem repetitive to outsiders to see 6 churches, all of different denominations and religions on one street, but it's their money they can do as they like.

I do love the architecture of old church buildings though, and I think that even if a congregation outgrows the church and builds a new one, the old building should be kept in use if possible, or at least kept up for historical purposes.

It is the nature of Western culture to create buildings that will only be torn down a few years later. We don't design them to last for centuries because we know that the chances of us choosing to remain at any given location for a lengthy amount of time are slim. Especially with churches; congregations tend to grow in number, making it necessary to purchase a new building to hold everyone.
