I don't think any one point of view contains the whole truth, and I see pluralism as overall more conductive to getting at the whole truth than any monolithic view.

Scott,

Thanks for the definition, but I think my brain is still shut off.

I don't know if it's possible or not since I don't know whether you're asking me to admit that your religious beliefs may also be correct. If you do, then I would have to say no.

I do not believe other views are correct *but* I respect your right to believe and your right to practice that belief without discrimination. If that fits the definition, then yes I think it might be possible....if we shoot all the fanatics first. :p

I don't think you could get a group or groups of humans to agree on much of anything, lol ! It would be nice if groups within the same religion could agree on more things, and we can all learn something from people of any religion. However I think it can be dangerous, now this is coming from a Biblical view, so its just my opinion, ok? Not debating. :) The Bible speaks of the antichrist, but also of the false prophet who rules with him for a time. I believe there will be a coming one world government, economy, and RELIGION, during the great tribulation of the end time. (again this only my opinion from reading the Bible). So I really don't want the religions to all blend together into one because of that. My great hope is that I will be raptured out with the church before that terrible time comes, but thats another deal. Besides, Christianity teaches that salvation comes through Christ alone, so we couldn't blend very well could we? Yes, yes, I am a narrow-minded bigot, I know, I know, lol. Jesus said it not me, lol, he said no man comes to the Father but by him, so take it up with him, lol, jk, like I said only my christian view, here, just adding for variety, dont wanna debate anything today, lol PEACE

The question is if its good or not, not if its feasible. I think it would be great in theory! In practice I don't think it will work out. =)

Thanks for the link, Scott!

I really don't know how one could function without it, unless one were a hard-core fundamentalist.

All those fanatics might be hard to round up, Melody... Maybe we can give them ice-cream and tell them to play nicely?

You are quite welcome Feathers!

... and I do believe it is a good thing... with limits.

This is why the Church cannot but praise the valuable work of theologians who take up the challenge of religious pluralism and new questions posed by interreligious dialogue. With creativity, sensitivity and fidelity to the biblical and magisterial tradition, they seek to find new paths and to explore new directions, advancing proposals and suggesting actions which necessarily demand the Church’s careful discernment. This readiness to confront the signs of the times cannot and must not devolve into superficial or inappropriate haste, so as not to disorient the Church’s consciousness of faith or endanger the credibility and effectiveness of the dialogue itself.
