I don't think so. For better or for worse, they do have enough support to remain relevant. But, I will say, they are evolving into a bit of a different being than they were before.
No, it's the legitimization of nativist, white chauvinist ignorance.
Can we please end this charade and call a spade a spade? This is some horrible mixture of the Know-Nothings, America First and the Silvershirt Legions. Makes me ****ing sick.
That sure is what it looks like from where I stand.
I wish it was just irrelevance. Quite on the contrary, they fail to reap the irrelevance that they so persistently pursue.

I've been saying for years the republican party is dead after 2016. But only if they lose the election, which is almost certain. The republican agenda doesn't mesh with the middle class and it's changing landscape of demographics. Their media has created very angry people intentionally, this is huge karma.

Certainly in its death throws but its looking like the Democrats aren't far behind with Hilary as the best they have to offer.

Nah, democrats don't have a rift. Additionally, they don't have a demographics problem. On a scale of 1-10 (higher being death is certain), the republican party is around an 9. Democrats around a 3

Sure have. That's not a rift. Bernie is the more progressive choice and Hillary is the moderate (centrist) choice. There are more moderates than liberals in the democratic party.
Yes, he is still fighting for his platform.
But after Philadelphia he and the whole Democratic party will be fighting against Trump, the TeaParty, and the obstruction in Capitol Hill and state legislatures.
I believe that the political landscape will change enormously.

What will be VERY interesting is how many Pubs that are up for re-election are going to be willing to link themselves with Trump if he keeps spouting his stuff. So far, business contributions are only very slowly coming in because it appears that they're afraid of having their reputation possibly tarnished.
I gotta feeling that this is going to be an "exciting" election, and I don't necessarily mean this in a positive way.

I wonder. Entrenched interests hold a lot of the strings.
I expect Clinton may be a continuation of the status quo, and I'm still trying to figure out what Trump's positions are -- they seem to change with each speech, sometimes in mid sentence.
The only candidate supporting the policies that enabled America's Golden Age, that might have a chance of making America great again, seems to be out of the picture.
