Republican Tax Nonsense

Smoke

the complete abolishment of the death tax
Good news! There's no such thing as a death tax! Dead people pay no taxes at all! There are estate taxes, but they don't apply to most estates, and I'm sure you'd never be so shamelessly dishonest as to refer to estate taxes by such a blatantly false term as "the death tax."

Actually, thanks to Bush's macabre rich folks' death lottery, there's not even a federal estate this year. It'll be back next year, though, so if I were George Sr. or Barbara I'd stay off of balconies till January 1.

You realize that "death tax" is a perfectly acceptable term?

As for a fair tax, it's generally theorized as a flat rate tax in which everyone pays the same percentage (which has many holes in it), or abolishing/reducing income tax in favor of a national sales tax.
Would that apply to all sales? For instance, if there's a 25% national sales tax and Pepsico buys out General Mills for $20 billion, will Pepsico pay $5 billion in sales tax?

This is like criticizing someone for using the grossly imprecise terms such as "sunrise" or "sunset."

No, it's not. It's a term devised to drum up opposition to the estate tax. If you call it the estate tax, it doesn't sound so bad, but when you call it the death tax, it sounds horrible. It's no different than "death panels". Conservatives have been very good at this sort of propaganda over the years.

Obama is nothing more than a less experienced & less capable version of Dubya.
I'm not sure a less capable version of Dubya would be able to tie his shoes.

You may be giving Dubya some undeserved credit that really belongs to Darth Cheney.

It's more like criticizing someone for claiming that Teabaggers are "the real Americans," or for claiming that Obama is a Kenyan Atheist Muslim Communist.
Wrong! That's INDONESIAN Atheist Muslim Communist! Get your story straight there, Smoke! :D

It's something like "death panels". I heard an 'expert' on NPR vehemently denying the existence of death panels, but then later on discussed "end of life panels"
necessary for health care reform. Btw, I have nothing against death panels (or end of life panels if you prefer), since we must ration health care somehow.

"Atheist"!!!! Don't even joke about putting him in with our ilk.
We have enuf of an image problem as it is.
(I doubt the Muslims want him either.)

I don't defend Bush at all, but I'm just amazed at how Obama's followers believe that he is so different.
He's just Bush on steroids when it comes to bloated government, higher taxes & foreign adventurism.

Dude, whatever it is you're on, it's not worth the damage it's causing.
