Responses from my Social Studies Teacher (On Homosexuality; It's for an Essay)

Do you have any concerns regarding homosexuals in general?

I have always been taught to love the sinner but not the sin. It is not
a sin to be homosexual, but it is to act on the impulse. I also believe
that if one is not married to a person of the opposite sex, they should
live a life of chastity. This would be the same for a homosexual and for
a heterosexual.

There is no such thing as homosexual marriage. they have to change the
actual definition to even say there is. This is a hidden agenda to
promote a lifestyle that is not accepted as natural or normal. This is
not a human right as the courts are trying to say. Nowhere in the
Charter of Rights and Freedoms does it say anything about sexual
orientation. I have very grave concerns that this is just another attack
on Traditional marriage and family life, especially children.

No I would not. In fact I would not even put in law the practice of
Civil unions. These laws originated to protect children, and homosexual
relations are sterile. As Pope John Paul II has said, "they are a part
of the ideology of evil".

>What religion are you?

Roman Catholic

>What factor influenced your choices most? (Science, Religion, Society, etc)

All Three have shown by use of reason that this issue of Homosexual
marriage is an oxymoron. God's law needs to be followed in Science,
Religion, & in Society for us to be truly free. As Jesus tells us, "The
Truth will set you Free" Why would we want to enslave ourselves in this way.
I am the red, and he is the black. What do you think?

Do you agree or disagree?

Can you explain further about this essay? Are you going to interview several people or just this teacher? Can a teacher even say they support homosexuals and homosexual marriage"? I don't know what you are trying to accomplish, so I don't know how to respond.

I'm interviewing a random 100 people from the phone book, as well as my teachers, and my family. It's for an essay for Social Studies (that teacher), and it's worth 15% of my mark. I'm going to do my best to balance the cases, until I get to where I will give my own opinion. I'm just looking for what people think of his answers.

Do you think I should put a poll here, and use that as part of the 100?

I'm also worried that I might get a biased mark back, because I'm for homosexual marriage, and see nothing wrong with homosexuality, but he is of the opposite opinion. Should I worry, do you think?

I'm not looking for deep thoughts, or anything, just your opinion on his replies.

If you think you get a biased mark, take it to a higher up. It sounds like you are doing a lot of work. Your teacher may have said those things, because he/she isn't allowed to say anything else or is playing that part, or may actually believe that. A good teacher wouldn't keep you from doing your own thinking.

I think the poll here is a good idea. What you have so far looks. I think you will get a good grade.

You will get different responces. As you know that there are
different religions that believe or not believe in homosexuality.

To be truly free is to not have those that deny us of our
freedom of being with the ones we love.

I don't think you should worry too much about a biased mark, especially if you get other people from you interviews to back up your opinions. If you mention other's opinions make sure your mentioning them as good, acceptable opinions, and not like your just putting them there to say what's wrong with them. From your posts though, I wouldn't think you'd have a problem with that, but it might good just to double check your not offending his opinions right out.

Putting the poll here would definately get you some good, well-thought answers, but you couldn't really call it random then. People on this board seem to be more open minded than the average group of people, and that might have some effect on it.
