I love nostalgia as much as the next person but I'm not sure that I fully understand this thread.
I suppose I recall a time when these things were essential to socially surviving early high school -
The idea of connecting meaningfully to the internet with them in the 2000s was kind of a "will they / won't they" pipe dream though.
Then the first IPhones & Androids blew everyone's hair back.
I might have been in the last bunch of people to remember the world without phones and the internet. It was deep into a fairly privileged childhood though - so I remember it with a really cute and innocent fondness and maybe a little too glossy. The 90s seemed really cool to be a little kid in.

We programmed in BASIC.
My high school & college calculator...until about junior year was a post Versalog.This pretty much was my high school calculator
But I recall also using a Pickett log log.

This stuff (merbromin)was first used in 1918 and was withdrawn in the USA in about 1998. So you could be 106 or just > 26, I suppose, if you are in the US.
Or is there a further subtlety I’ve missed?
