RF Is Great

No, this isn't a sarcastic thread.

RF is great. We complain about it, but I find it very welcoming. I find a lot of good folks on here. I'm currently a little tipsy, but sober enough to recognise goodness when I see it. Dad bought me some wine for my upcoming birthday, as I'm not going to be here that day, God willing the trains are running, I'm drinking it now. I gave it as a libation to Wesir, along with some incense, and I feel good.

I used to be a Noahide. No Jew on this forum has said 'You were never a real Noahide', they acknowledged my struggle and accepted my new faith. Just to be clear, I have kept my Jewish stuff. Where else could you find that kind of tolerance? I know many RFers who wouldn't find that in their day to day.

Folks who change faiths here are accepted, I've noticed. Despite some of the poo-flinging, there actually are good discussions. I know, I've had them. I hope you've had them too.

I'm celebrating, so you can celebrate with me.

Say something genuinely good about RF here.

I was a little slow warming up, and a little unnecessarily frightened of people the first two to three years. But having been here for years, I think things have grown on me.

I can bounce weird ideas off @Revoltingest - and sometimes he even plays along.

I can post something really niche, and usually there are people to talk about it.

No Hindus have gotten mad at me for me changing my beliefs away from Hinduism after spending over a year with it. Maybe one of them does question my ideas lately, but they may be genuinely curious.

And off the wall, unscripted things sometimes happen, that aren't planned for, but are funny and you can just roll with. Like @mangalavara posting his feet.

The only thing I regret was being a little overly sensitive and reactive when I joined. I get told by a lot of people that I'm a touch hypersensitive, though when there really is a problem where sticking my nose into it actually helps someone, well, I've seen that happen too, and helping a couple of people in my life just mostly by chance and because of my own quirks. But mostly I do need to just go with the flow more.

RF has consistently opened me up to learning many new things that I otherwise would have no interest in. A lot of the threads that delve into history, current events, and science teach me new things, and generally people are quite friendly when my understanding of a topic is incomplete or outdated.

It's rare to see people that don't lord themselves over the information they have and beat others down for it. It's something that I try very hard not to do, because it's something that my father always did when I was growing up, and RF leads by example on that front. I'm still working on that myself, so it's nice to see other people who are better at it than me.

Honestly, for the headaches that RF has caused me.

I've learned and grown soooo much through discussion and debate here that it would be hard to say anything else has been as influential upon my beliefs and faith.

People on RF are, for the most part, welcoming and interested in honest discussion.

What other religious site can have a non-believing moderator?

The administration and moderation here is unmatched even if they do slap me around on occasion.

(Speaking of which, they are also very patient.)

Another thing I've kind of grown to appreciate is that in the Debates section, I feel like you aren't expected to be a good formal debater, that a person with "good ideas" has an opinion that typically, I feel, carries about the same weight as a seasoned, established debater.

It’s really nice when one feels like that after making an offering.

I hope Śiva gives you moksha. :tongueout:

I appreciate your sentiment.

Say something genuinely good about RF here.

If I could caress RF with my feet, I would.

In all seriousness, I like all of you. :yellowheart:

Yes, Jewish RF is great. I vote we move ahead with my top-secret plan to take over the site.

One of the nicest things here are the birthday threads. Even for members you may not interact with too much, or members that aren't here very often.

RF is great because you get to hear what people really think, and there's much to learn from it.

A post is accepted or passed on by for it's merit value.

The format, and layout is convenient and clearly organized.

I enjoy a lot of the people as well. There's some friendly people here. I'm a private person, but I love the avenues of expression here.

There's humor, harmony, and conflict but it all usually ends up being civil.

I like it. RF is usually good. I've been off and on here for 7 years perhaps. And I always find someone saying interesting things.

It really is, and a few veterans have seen that I post in half the birthday threads while here.

However, it did make me sad for awhile that I don't get a birthday. I think it's the same day as @SalixIncendium 's, but even the time I updated my account in preparation so it'd pop up, it just, like, never showed up.

Please, take mine. I don't need anymore. 56 is enough!
