Do you view RFians as real people just as those strangers you talk to in person?

Is there a difference and why?
I feel like I do and that those feelings are progressive as I get to know more about each of you. However, I leave open the possibility that outside observation may reveal deficiencies that I cannot see. I am open to criticism, though, like most, I prefer positive even though the negative has growth value too.

I have some genuine friends among RF that I talk to in DMs and such, but I still don't really mix my online life with my offline life. Of course some of that is simply because of distance; but in general, I feel more comfortable with the quasi-anonymity. I say quasi because I frequently use my own first name in posts and pictures as avatars (I kind of like seeing peoples' faces, so I like it when people have themselves as avatars), but I still keep my offline life separate.

Internet people aren't real.
Finally proof that God exists...because "internet people are not real", so God must do the typing. Now I also understand that many people never met Him. God must have been super-busy with all His "virtual" typing conversations (esp. @Revoltingest ), no spare time for "real" talking conversations

Yes, I view members here as real people with real feelings. It's a bit disappointing to me that some people forget that from time to time.

But I think the internet puts up a barrier for many, just as someone in a car. People tend to interact with someone differently in the presence of a barrier. There are things people do or say to other in their car that they likely wouldn't do if they were standing in the same room. Their sense of etiquette is somehow diminished. Same goes for the internet.

Then again, to some, internet people are more "real" than people IRL. I've noticed people that have social challenges find it easier to interact with someone by text than speaking with someone face-to-face.

Ive been likened to a robot when i try to dance, but i do have human tendencies and i can usually complete a captcha in 4 or 5 attempts.

I see the members by their posts, every single one of them a unique human

Its a different mode of acquaintance. People on line are real enough that they can be hurt, angered, or pleased. There is little or no borrowing the sugar, networking for jobs or sexual tension. You can't get them into bed and can't use them as stepping stones to power or buy them lunch.

Definitely real!

I form strong connexions to some folks online. I consider them my friends. Folks I have become close to or talk to often are definitely real people to me. I have many RFians on Discord as well. They appear in my dreams (@Saint Frankenstein, @Harel13 and @Vouthon know all about that ) and my daydreams.

RF is like a home away from home :)
