Simmons, who had revealed a skin diagnosis in March 2024, had lately dropped out of sight, sparking speculating about his health and well-being. His death was first reported by TMZ.

Simmons was a former 268-pound teen who became a master of many media forms, sharing his hard-won weight-loss tips as host of the Emmy-winning daytime “Richard Simmons Show” and author of best-selling books and the diet plan Deal-A-Meal. He also opened exercise studios and starred exercise videos, including the wildly successful “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” line, which became a cultural phenomenon.

I was never a big fan of Richard Simmons, but he was memorable. Rest in peace.

Me either but fitness gurus were never a big thing with me from the start.

Still I do pay my respects for a man who was loved by many people.

Richard was a great person who helped a lot of people with his positivity and compassion. It's so sad he's gone and so suddenly. His Birthday was just the day before! I wonder if he had cancer. Oh, well. RIP, Richard. Thanks for the fun and caring.

It's also sad because we don't have anyone like that in pop culture anymore, who was just positive and kind without a mean word for anyone, really.

Who remembers Richard Simmons wearing a headband as part of his work-out get-up? Official reality says he never wore one but millions including myself distinctly remember it.

The mandala effect. That's one thing me and you could find some common ground on.

How about that! *grin*

I have to appreciate someone that could become famous withn a population of hundreds of millions based solely on his personality.

That's pretty amazing when you think about it.
