The latest in the right's attempt to dismantle the American way of life. The motto: Winning uber alles.

Republicans JUST blocked 2 election security bills — hours after Mueller said Russia is actively trying to sway the 2020 elections — showing in plain sight that they’re willing to dismantle our democracy & take help from our most dangerous adversary to win

And Mueller referred to Trump's actions as being "unpatriotic", and it seems that the congressional Republicans are hell-bent on letting Russian influence into this next election as well. It seems they have far more faith in Putin than in the Constitution of the United States of America.

Sounds like a great headline.
Agreed.
2020 election security: GOP senators block bills hours after Mueller warns of Russian interference - CNNPolitics

So much for the party that wants to defend America.
So much for the party of strength and honor.
...of veterans service and service to veterans.
....of law and order.

How about we call them like they are.....“The Belly-Up Party”, or the “Surrender Party”, or “The Impotent Weakling Party”?

Actually, “Putin’s Party” has a lot of appeal. ;)

Funny, no link to the actual bills in question.
There may have been some concerns with the wording or add in's that may have far reaching implications which caused them to be rejected, happens all the time. Maybe next time before you go grabbing yer pitchfork and torch and storm in the castle you may want to make sure why.

There just aren't words to really respond to the depravity and hypocrisy of this is there?

No link to the actual bills but a sixteen second soundbite taken out of context that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.... makes sense.

I'm sick and tired hearing about how my dear Russian comrades had dared influenced the 2016 U.S. Presidential election or how Russia will try to the sway the 2020 U.S. Presidential election in favor of Donald J. Trump,

Imho, it's time now to move on and let's reveal how the fake news media and silicon valley tech giant Google are trying to sway the 2020 U.S. Presidential election in favor of the Democrats.

It's so pathetic that the Trump defenders will blow-off Mueller, who is a life-long Republican and whom has been praised by many Republicans many times in the past, and who said again yesterday that the Russians had worked to influence the 2016 election in favor of Trump and that they are already at it again. I don't know what world they live in whereas they'll ignore reality so completely, but if "ignorance is bliss" some of them must already be in heaven.

Mueller's investigation team consisted of ardent Hillary Clinton supporters. By the way, Mueller is a never-Trumper, of whom I as a supporter of our POTUS despises.

No link to the actual bills

According to Newsweek, it's the "Securing America's Federal Elections Act" (or "SAFE ACT") and the "Duty to Report Act".

Securing America's Federal Elections Act: To protect elections for public office by providing financial support and enhanced security for the infrastructure used to carry out such elections, and for other purposes.

Corporate Duty to Report Act 2019: To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require corporations to report disbursements made by foreign nationals for purposes of disseminating campaign-related public communications and to inquire whether persons providing such disbursements are foreign nationals, and for other purposes.

So none of us actually know exactly what was in it?
Apparently neither did the witless who stopped the bills.
Mueller Feared Election Tampering Is ‘New Normal,’ GOP Helps Ensure It Is

Hyde-Smith blocked all the bills without giving an explanation for her action or stating if she made the motion by herself or on behalf of her party. Though a motion to block is a minor obstacle to a bill’s passage, The Hill notes: “Election interference bills face an uphill climb in the Senate, where Republicans aren’t expected to move legislation through the Rules Committee, the panel with primary jurisdiction, and have warned about attempts to ‘federalize’ elections.”

Senate Intelligence Committee vice-chairman Mark Warner condemned Hyde-Smith’s motion: “Mueller’s testimony should serve as a warning to every member of this body about what could happen in 2020, literally in our next elections.” Without updated laws in place requiring a campaign to report contacts like that of Trump-Russia in 2016, it’s quite possible that at least one campaign could flirt with foreign intelligence all over again. (Namely, the one whose candidate recently told George Stephanopoulos that if foreign agents “have information, I think I’d take it.”)”

Also, as others have noted above....
Senate Republicans are refusing to vote on any election security bills

No link to the actual bills but a sixteen second soundbite taken out of context that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.... makes sense.

For a conservative....but not for us who are on the side of reason, facts, sound economy, strong national defense, and honorable dealings outside and within our nation. I.e. for us progressives.

Try to get some facts kid, and keep up, eh?

As to the title of this thread: Yes. The GOP has forsaken all American citizens except for their dreamed of aristocracy, and are willing to dive to any depths in their own swamp-slime to gain power. For them, might makes right, and victory uber alles.

Meh....everything is anti-Ameristanian to someone.
Certainly I am....some cons hate me for draft dodging & secularism.
Many lefties hate me for libertarianism.
Perhaps hating others over political differences the sign of a true Ameristanian.

As Mueller said in testimony, they don't ask new members in the FBI or with his staff which party they may belong to, nor do they expect them to work out of any party affiliation as partisan politics must be left behind when at work.

And just a reminder that Mueller has been a life-long Republican. Blaming him and new recruits so as to deny inconvenient facts is just another example of what some people will do to protect their idol, Donald J. Trump.

Personally, I'm not into hero-worship.

These seem reasonable enough, although I'd like to see tighter controls on the big money that seems to dominate every election, regardless of whether it's from foreign or domestic sources.

That's the elephant in the room that nobody wants to discuss - the fact that big money controls big politics. It was only a matter of time before foreigners with money got into that game. America was put up for sale decades ago, yet so many people ignored what was going on.
