do we have any gamers in the house? Dungeons and Dragons? Rifts? Palladium? Shadowrun?
And LARPers (Live Action Role Players...they kind who use nerf weapons and reynolds wrap armor)?

i've been working on a D&D campaign and it's just brought back alot of memories of past games and character and i wanted to see if i was the only geek in the room!

Oh yeah! Don't forget Vampire: The Masquerade and all those White Wolf games. They told me D & D was evil at church...but I played anyways! What about a roleplaying thread...like an adventure where we all act it out with posts? I dunno...

I've been a wargamer since 1960 - board games, miniatures.

I started playing D&D in 1975, found other games I like better - RuneQuest, gritty sci-fi, horror games like Call of Cthulhu.

This makes me an "Old Fart Gamer".

I'm currently working on a Card Stock urban terrain project for gangster and private investigator games, called Mean Streets, and a new game system for 1920's, 3-'s, 40's, and 50's mob wars called "We Only Kill Each Other".

You can see the cardstock city at: http://www.fauxtoys.com/tvag/610-Mean-Streets-Main-Page.html

I have run E-mail campaigns about a dozen times, anyone interested should drop me an e-mail at [email protected] .

Regards,
Scott

Call of Cthulhu was the schizz-nit! I want to be the wizard...like that geek from A Nightmare on Elm Street with wheelchair.

Guild Wars. I bought it over the summer and I can't stop playing it. Except for times like this when my computer is in the shop.

I'm in the middle of a second edition D&D campaign right now. I am Ninwocket, the Gnomish Bard.

I also head over to my friends house to practice for Amtgard. Of course, our weaponry is grossly underpadded and we all leave wth all sorts of welts and bruises. You have to make it at least a little manly.

YES! Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my group that has a bokken, so we stick with thick pvc pipes.

I've played AD&D, D&D 3rd, Mutants & Masterminds, Star Wars and that's about it. I'm kind of a n00b.

On the plus side I have an advantage... I've been closely associated with my college gaming club and their ever changing ever growing supply of games and gamers. I've even gotten to meet several well known figures in the Gaming Industry through our annual Gaming Convention. They can be some really nice and both grounded and wacky people at the same time. :D

he he he... I played a Get of Fenris/BSD that had that problem. He heard the voices of the Wyrm urging him to do... well Evil things.

For Vampires I've played a Malkavian, Lasombra, Brujha, Settite, and a few Tremere. (they are probably my fav. close followed by the Lasombra and Settites.)

I just remembered another game from this group. It was called Mage:The Ascension. Here's the Wikipedia description...I just thought this read cool:

...A given paradigm may or may not agree with consensus, or the accepted view of reality. Consensus is determined by the Sleepers who (though unawakened) through sheer numbers impart reality with its general rules. When a mage performs an act that can easily be explained by an onlooker through consensually accepted rules, it is called coincidental magic. Most paradigms (including advanced science) do not, on the other hand, entirely line up with the common-sense expectations most people take for granted. Magic that deviates wildly from consensus is called vulgar magic. Vulgar magic (as well as poorly or inadequately performed coincidental magic) causes Paradox, a phenomenon in which reality tries to resolve the apparent contradiction. Paradox is almost always bad for the mage, and has also been called "The Scourge" or "backlash." Impossible to predict, Paradox usually turns the disjunction of reality against the mage in some way. Consequences of Paradox include Quiet (forms of madness in mages which may leak into reality), Paradox Spirits (being apparently created temporarily for the sole purpose of punishing the mage), or any number of other embarrassing, disorienting, or harmful effects. Interestingly, because Sleepers determine consensus, performing vulgar magic in the presence of a Sleeper who does not accept a mage's paradigm incurs more Paradox than vulgar magic performed without witnesses.
One of the nine Traditions or "cults" was called the Euthanatos and their responsibility was to basically eliminate people who were "taking up space". I think I liked this game even more than Vampire.
