Ron "pudding fingers" DeSantis suspends his campaign for the republican nomination

So it is down to two, Nikki Haley and Mr. Corruption. This will make New Hampshire much more interesting since DeSantis won't take any votes. Does Haley have a chance to win NH? Could a win indicate some momentum for Haley in coming primary states?

If she does what will Trump's reaction be? More anxiety? Immediate attacks on Haley? More confusing Nikki for Nancy?

Your thoughts?

DeSantis never managed to really connect with voters, and that seems to me to be for two reasons. The first (the one the media plays on) is simply a personality that doesn't connect easily. I think the more important is that he couldn't bring himself to truly stand up to Donald Trump and say what needed to be said about the danger Trump brings, and how DeSantis wouldn't bring a similar danger. And because he couldn't do that, there was no reason for voters to suppose that he was in fact really any different.

I am not ready to believe that Haley can overtake Trump, but I will say this: if she does, there's a very, very good chance she could defeat Biden. I would be a little more comfortable with her, but still would not much prefer a Republican White House yet.

Trump so far has proven himself to be the best most effective weapon against the immature whining left wing.

Why in the world would the right wing give up such an effective candidate to essentially put the left in their proper place and knock off a couple of sticks off their petulant shoulders.

If by "effective weapon" Trump is like a turd floating in a pool and how it offends decent citizens who want stability.

Because he is a disturbed person who poses a threat to the nation. He's proven he is unfit.

DeSantis had an edge over Trump in 2022 and he slowly lost ground over time as people got to know him. His ideas are not very popular.

I doubt she can win the nomination but I wouldn't mind if she wins a few contests to rattle Trump.

Remember that.

America is safe from being "made into Florida" for the meantime
Like being made into the People's Republic of New York and the People's Republic of California is any better.

The two least free and most oppressed states in the entire nation both led by The People's Democrat Party.

The half that supports a corrupt candidate who is running to avoid criminal accountability. That is an embarrassment for these conservative voters. At least there is a percentage that is disgusted by Trump.

According to new polls even Florida doesn't want to be Florida anymore.

I reckon Trump will go after Haley criticizing her tenure as Speaker of the House, her involvement in using private email servers or her role in covering up that Hunter Biden laptop fiasco.

All damning controversies to nail her on.

Yeah. I'd definitely sleep better because it's no secret the GOP is a party of misogynist men. I don't see her being able to do much because Reps tend to strongly make up the demographs who have problems with having a female supervisor. I don't think they're ready to do what a woman says, even if gives them some fantasy they're "owning the libs."

The DeSantis exit leaves his supporters to vote Trump in both the 1/23 New Hampshire and the 2/24 South Carolina primaries.

I suspect it will all be over by March 1st. Good.

Haley has no chance unless it becomes clear that Trump does not have any, either. The Republican Party of today is way too set in winning by any means possible, regardless of moral price. The days when they would be embarrassed by a candidate with a clearly criminal profile are long gone. That is painfully obvious.

In practice - barring some borderline miraculous albeit very welcome event of widespread ressurgence of moral discernment among the Republican voters - Trump will be arrested, or he will be the Republican candidate. It is even IMO more likely that he will be both than that someone else will be the Republican candidate.
