Ruling on hating the Sahaabah (sunni)

It was narrated that al-Bara’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “The Ansaar: no one loves them but a believer and no one hates them but a hypocrite. Whoever loves them, Allaah will love him, and whoever hates them, Allaah will hate him.”

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan said:

The way of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah is to love the family (ahl al-bayt) of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

The Naasibis love the Sahaabah but hate the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), hence they were called Naasibis because they set themselves up (nasb) as enemies of the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

The Raafidis are the opposite: they love the Prophet’s family (ahl al-bayt) – or so they claim, but they hate the Sahaabah, whom they curse, denounce as kaafirs and criticize.

Whoever hates the Sahaabah hates Islam, because they are the bearers of Islam and the followers of the Chosen Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). So whoever hates them hates Islam, and this indicates that there is no faith in the hearts of such people and that they do not love Islam.

This is an important basic principle which the Muslims should understand, namely loving and respecting the Sahaabah, because that is part of faith. Hating them or hating one of them is kufr and hypocrisy, because loving them is part of loving the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and hating them is part of hating the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Very nice topic indeed! I wonder what kind of people would hate and criticize the the Prophet's companions and family. Surely they are wrong.

Indeed, for they were men and women of faith.

Evil incarnate!
Many people claim to be followers of Islam and Allah, but will refuse to follow the prophet, any of his rulings, hate the sahabah, etc. Allah has stated in His Quran that He is pleased with these people and they are likewise pleased with Him. So people who dislike sahabah, and think of them with disdain need to take stock of just what Islam and Iman mean to them.

Mat 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"

Thanks BROTHER very important issue to raise here.
The OVERWHELMING majority of Muslims love & respect sahabah & prophet family.
It is Quiet clear to almost every Muslim that hating of any of them means you are out of islam

John this is an Islamic Forum see (Islam DIR / Sunni DIR ) your passage is not relevant at all.

The Sahaba (Companions) & Ahlul Bayt (Family) of the Prophet Muhammad (saws) were the lights of this community, undermining them hating and cursing them are signs of Nifaq (hypocrisy).

Were the Sahaba incapable of making a mistake or doing wrong?

Please answer my simple question

This was a gift to them from Almighty Allah that their minds and soul was so pure that they wont commit any sin. They are called Sahabah, i.e. followers of the Holy Prophet(s.a.w). So as the name defines they followed the Prophet(pbuh) and so kept away from any sin.

I beg to differ with you . Companions of the Prophet were better human , no doubt about that but it doesn't mean that they were above mortal mistakes and/or sins . They also did wrong and committed sin but remorsed sincerely .

Even the Prophet himself made mistakes let alone his companions .

Their mistakes, if any would be negligible as their good deeds were ruling their scales, you cannot find any mistake. Their were surely better human. I don't know what mistakes are you talking about. Tell about them if any.

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) has said:
"Those who are desirous of following anyone, should follow the Sahaba who were the best of community, whose hearts were pure, whose wisdom was profound and who did not believe in the exhibition of outer life. They were a people whom Allah had selected His Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and who extended His religion to the world. Therefore, try to imitate their ways and manners, for by Allah, they were rightly guided people."

You cannot even think about saying that they made mistakes. They are a guideline for us. We people don't have the status of as of the shoes in their feet and you are talking about their mistakes. Talking about such a thing is a sin, it is like abusing them, you are indirectly calling the Holy Prophet(pbuh)'s choice.

I already told that they were better human , but are you telling that they were infallible ?

Yes that is what i think so. Because i don't see any incident in the past that proves that the could commit any mistake.

Sorry , even the Prophet himself admitted that he was a fallible human , what about his companions then ? No need of details here , just see few examples :

A'isha reported that two persons visited Allah's Messenger and both of them talked about a thing, of which I am not aware, but that annoyed him and he invoked curse upon both of them and hurled malediction, and when they went out I said: Allah's Messenger, the good would reach everyone but it would not reach these two. He said: Why so? I said: Because you have invoked curse and hurled malediction upon both of them. He said: Don't you know that I have made condition with my Lord saying thus: O Allah, I am a human being and that for a Muslim upon whom I invoke curse or hurl malediction make it a source of purity and reward? (Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6285)

This hadith has been reported on the authority of A'mash with the same chain of transmitters and the hadith transmitted on the authority of 'Isa (the words are): "He had a private meeting with them AND hurled malediction upon them and cursed them and sent them out." (Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6286)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle as saying: O Allah, I make a covenant with Thee against which Thou wouldst never go. I am a human being and thus for a Muslim whom I give any harm or whom I scold or upon whom i invoke a curse or whom i beat, make this a source of blessing, purification and nearness to thee on the Day of Resurrection. (Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6290)

Salim, the freed slave of Nasriyyin, said: I heard Abu Huraira as saying that he heard Allah's Messenger as saying: O Allah, Muhammad is a human being. I lose my temper just as human beings lose temper, and I have held a covenant with Thee which Thou wouldst not break: For a believer whom I give any trouble or invoke curse or beat, make that an expiation (of his sins and a source of) his nearness to Thee on the Day of Resurrection. (Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6293)

Anas b. Malik reported that there was an orphan girl with Umm Sulaim (who was the mother of Anas). allah's messenger saw that orphan girl and said: o, it is you; you have grown young. may you not advance in years! that slave-girl returned to Umm Sulaim weeping. Umm Sulaim said: O daughter, what is the matter with you? She said: Allah's Apostle has invoked curse upon me that I should not grow in age and thus I would never grow in age, or she said, in my (length) of life. Umm Sulaim went out wrapping her head-dress hurriedly until she met Allah's Messenger. He said to her: Umm Sulaim, what is the matter with you? She said: Allah's Apostle, you invoked curse upon my orphan girl. He said: Umm Sulaim, what is that? She said: She (the orphan girl) states you have cursed her saying that she might not grow in age or grow in life. Allah's Messenger smiled and then said: Umm Sulaim, don't you know that I have made this term with my Lord. And the term with my Lord is that I said to Him: I am a human being and I am pleased just as a human being is pleased and I lose temper just as a human being loses temper, so for any person from amongst my Ummah whom I curse and he in no way deserves it, let that, O Lord, be made a source of purification and purity and nearness to (Allah) on the Day of Resurrection. (Sahih Muslim, Book 032, Number 6297)
The Quran recorded that a group of companions took part in spreading the horrendous lies against the mother of the believers Aisha . How are you going to define it ? Wasn’t it a mistake/sin or crime ?

[024:011] Those who brought forward the lie are a body among yourselves: think it not to be an evil to you; On the contrary it is good for you: to every man among them (will come the punishment) of the sin that he earned, and to him who took on himself the lead among them, will be a penalty grievous.
[024:012] Why did not the believers - men and women - when ye heard of the affair,- put the best construction on it in their own minds and say, "This (charge) is an obvious lie"?
[024:013] Why did they not bring four witnesses to prove it? When they have not brought the witnesses, such men, in the sight of God, (stand forth) themselves as liars!
[024:014] Were it not for the grace and mercy of God on you, in this world and the Hereafter, a grievous penalty would have seized you in that ye rushed glibly into this affair.
[024:015] Behold, ye received it on your tongues, and said out of your mouths things of which ye had no knowledge; and ye thought it to be a light matter, while it was most serious in the sight of God.
[024:016] And why did ye not, when ye heard it, say? - "It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to God! this is a most serious slander!"
[024:017] God doth admonish you, that ye may never repeat such (conduct), if ye are (true) Believers.
[024:018] And God makes the Signs plain to you: for God is full of knowledge and wisdom.
[024:019] Those who love (to see) scandal published broadcast among the Believers, will have a grievous Penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: God knows, and ye know not.
[024:020] Were it not for the grace and mercy of God on you, and that God is full of kindness and mercy, (ye would be ruined indeed).

The Hadith in details even mentioning some of the names of the companions of the Prophet who were involve in that horrendous crime . See the long hadith in Bukhari,Volume 6, Book 60, Number 274.

I feel it not necessary to discuss more about the issue , because this is not the right thread to put them here . The above few examples are sufficient to realize that not Prophet nor his companions were infallible .
