Rumours?

Malus 12:9

Temporarily Deactive.
Do you listen to rumours? If you hear one does it change the way you think/feel about something? What do you think on rumours?

The only good thing about a rumour is that it gives fair warning about some thing that might happen.
They should never be believed or acted on as fact.

Rumours are the life blood of th Net. It's up to you what you either chose to believe or otherwise. One thing is for sure, in an annonymous virtual world, anything and everthing is suspect.

It's a case of buyer beware.

I would guess , informed guess, that Malus is referring to several spoof ID's another Forum, and who's getting the blame for them.

I just ignore all rumors I hear. I have been at the wrong end of rumors before, and some of my friends have been thier as well.
Something can happen at one end of a factory, then by the time it gets to the other end, its been changed and juiced up about 5 or 8 times. Even something that is going from one fast food store to another just down the road can change dramatically.

No, I wasn't having a laugh, as I was taken in by a faker on there, I have some first knowledge of the problems. but it's not the place to talk about it here.

Now I'm interested... If only I were in the intercircles of RF.

I don't mind rumors if they are not about people. Gossiping and spreading lies around about other people though tends to cause lots of problems.

I remember when I'd just started massage therapy school. One of my fellow students was apparently talking about me to the rest of the class. (Apparently, I was 'weird' for knowing what Namaste meant, heheee!) Oddly enough, I got more upset with the person that passed this along to me- maybe because she was so obviously doing it because she thought it would get me upset at another person. From then on, I tried to be more careful about rumors- if it's not a kind thing about someone else, or if it's not something I wouldn't want reaching back to them, I try not to say it.

Recently, I watched a talk show where they discussed why we spread gossip. It had to do with trying to form a bond with the other person, based on an agreed perception or shared knowledge of another individual. I think it was the host that asked if gossip can ever be a good thing for the person being discussed. It was brought up that 'positive gossip' also fulfilled our want to spread gossip, but only strengthened our ties between ourselves and all people involved, including the person being talked about. This form of gossip involves relaying the nice things that others have said about others, the good things that they have done, and whatnot. ("Ooooo, did you hear that Cindy is volunteering with the library?" "No! Did you hear that Marsha donated a kidney?") Unless the information is confidential (when I know that a person wants their acts to remain anonymous, for example), I love spreading this type of gossip!

I'm not too 'on' about rumours and gossip - I find they are much like the game 'Chinese whispers'. At work, and friend and I used to start rumours about the other - just to see how distorted it became within, say, a week. You'd be amazed!:biglaugh:
