Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov shot dead

Excerpt:

"Russia's ambassador to Ankara has been killed in a gun attack in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Russia's foreign ministry said.

Andrey Karlov was several minutes into a speech at a photo exhibition when he was shot in the back multiple times on Monday evening.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the announcement of Karlov's death in a live televised statement.

The gunman was a 22-year-old off-duty police officer who worked in the Turkish capital, Ankara's mayor said."

I'm not sure what to think yet. It all seem a little strange.

Thoughts?

I knew it had something to do with Syria. The rebels are having their butts handed to them in Syria and now they are taking "cheap shots".

A rumor (I just started) has Hillary behind this.
No intelligence agencies have denied it.

It's a shame it was the diplomat. He isn't/wasn't the problem. He was just doing his job as a civil servant.

Lol. I thought not of it. I was more worried about what the consequences would be and, actually, I thought first of an archduke.
Oh please, spare me. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand started a world war because everyone wanted one. Russia doesn't have the capital to start a war with Turkey.

This was precisely why. The war happened because everyone was baying for one, but they found an excuse. I was thinking, it only takes something stupidly insignificant (as opposed to everything else that's happened) like this.

I rather expect WWIII to start over some such crap.
And I will be stuck in an aging superpower run by a guy who can't win a Twitter battle with a bimbo from a beauty pageant.

In fairness, the Russians will be stuck in a superpower on life-support ran by someone who can't decide if he wants to be Tsar or General Secretary.

Some theory of insurgency I seem to recall from youth (and I've seen it treated in fiction, including Star Trek TNG): If you're not doing well in you war, do everything you can to get involvement of neutral parties...

Although, as Russia can hardly be said to be a neutral party in this case, but forcing them into more action, or to distract them with attacks in Turkey and elsewhere, might serve the same purpose.

ISIS is interested in starting World War III, and there are other groups (not just Muslim) that think they should help Armageddon along...

Meh, no sympathy. The Russians are helping a regime who engage in civilian killing at the drop of a hat and the rebels are desperate to the point they can't strike back at the Russian army so they'll strike back at the Government who orders them. No doubt I'll be accused of engaging in lies and propaganda by some...
