Santa Muerte

Antiochian

Rationalist
I've been reading about Santa Muerte and her devotion, and I'm interested in beginning a relationship with her and asking her help in my life. I have started reading the first of three books translated into English that delves into her history and prayers/rituals. I see there's a rosary to her. I also found websites for temples and churches in her honor.

My main question is: images/statues of Saint Death come in several colors. Which color should I get? I assume it depends on why I'm mainly seeking her help--protection, love, money, etc--well, I could use help with all those things. Is it possible to make or buy appropriately colored robes for a statue and use them when it fits the request being made?

Anything else I should know? I'm non-Hispanic and non-Catholic, but all the sources I've come across say it doesn't matter as long as I respect the saint's cultural origins.

Santisima Muerte is the same deity as Ereshkigal and as Lilith, who at times merges with her son Namtar to take the form of Santisima Muerte.

The best way to further your devotion to her is to participate in death ritual. Join the military or join a gang war if you can't work solitary. How can you expect to peak her interest otherwise?

If taking life and spilling blood isn't your thing then perhaps you should worship her as Lilith or Ereshkigal instead.

What?! I know this person has been banned, but this is a nonsense and I have to comment. Santa Muerte's origins have nothing to do with Lilith (who was never viewed as a deity until modern times; she was just a scary desert demon in the beginning). She is just a revival of the Aztec death goddess, Mictecacihuatl, mixed with Catholicism. She is not a "deity" that rejoices in death, but is prayed to for protection from death and other misfortunes. The image of her has been warped by people associating her with criminals and gangs, but this is a distortion and nothing more. She is actually a positive figure.
