Santa Muerte?

Who exactly is this particular saint?

I read that she is the saint of LGBT individuals, as well as bar owners, prostitutes, drug smugglers, against violence, etc.; but is she a saint officially recognized by the Catholic church?

Or is she more of a folk saint in that Catholicism and magical beliefs are mixed?

Or is she even a legitimate saint at all?

"Santa Muerte" is not a Saint at all; the name literally means "St. Death" or "Holy Death". It's an amalgam of Christianity and traditional folk sorcery, a cult advocated among the drug cartels and other parts of the criminal underground in various parts of Latin America. Real Christians do best to flee from Santa Muerte as from Satan.
