A lot of people liked it. I am sort of disturbed by this. Does anyone here actually think this is a good message? Does it bother you as much as it bothers me that this had over a thousand likes?

My gut feeling liked it. I guess my gut feelings dislike anti-biblical know-it-all people more than biblical Christians.

This isn't a logical appraisal just my gut feelings.

I've seen similar posts, even in my own local newspaper.. conveniently under the Opinions section. Fairly certain its fake.
It has "fake" written all over it; from the story's implausibly neat set up, to its far too clever retort. It reeks of the "amusing" contributions once found in Reader's Digest.

Irrationality as an attempt at supporting Bible-quoting in a an arrogant way?

Yes, it is fair to say that it bothers me.

If anything this joke points out the absurdity of dogmatism and biblical literalism. If anyone should be offended by this joke it is the biblical literalists. But they probably don't see it that way:shrug:

It's funny. It'd only be disturbing if I thought there was an actual Hell the teacher might end up in.
