There's been some talk about "Awnald" running for the White House and some, like Sen. Orrin Hatch have been in support of amending the constitution to allow The Terminator to run for President. What are your thoughts on it? Would you vote for him if he ran? And does anyone else remember "Demolition Man" and the Schwarzenegger Presidential Library??:jiggy:

I don't like the idea of a non US born American running for President. It seems to me that this could cause a conflict of interest in certain matters (e.g. War, Humanitarian aid, the all encopmassing ETC.). You can probably tell by this that I would not vote for him if he ran. As for demolition man... That is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Just about anyone would be better than George W. Bush!
I'm glad Bush got voted in for a seond term and hope he does well.

I hope not . Not just because he wasn't born in the US . I couldn't care less about that . For me it would say that Hollywood has way too much control over the American people ... :)

When you realize that the country's well being is a lot further from our politician's priorities than any immigrant's, life will make a lot more sense to you.

Wow, this is so funny. I was telling my mom and dad that this would happen ages ago (when he got elected govenor). Of course, they said that they would never change it...... *Sighs* It's hard being right.... Isn't he also married to the last living Kennedy or something like that?

I'm happy to say that life makes plenty of sense to me. In fact, I love my life! That aside, where do you believe that the politicians priorities lie?

Happy Belated Thanksgiving all!!

Anyway It couldn't really be any worse than George Bush, at least you could look foward to a considerable amount of annoying puns involving movie titles like "I SAY ZAT VEE TERMINATE ZEE MIDDLE EEEAST"

and I don't think him not being born in America is a problem at all unless there is a problem with multiculturalism

What has Arnold accomplished for the people of California since he was elected.
Don't know any specifics, but they seem to really like him. I don't knw him well enough to pass personal judgement, other than to say it'd be kinda weird. Lol, I just got a funny picture of him bazooka-ing his opponent's head off during one of the presidential debates...heh heh.

A lot of it was what Gray Davis the old govener did helped whoever was gonna succeed him. The Cali taxes are really high, unemployement at in 2002 under Davis was high the city was having brownouts--which is a scheduled electrical blackout cause it couldn't pay the electric bill. A number of police corruptions were coming to light over there and Davis was using tax dollars to use them like and army to fight terrorism but there was no terrorist to be found over there. The state had a very poor opinion of him and while Schwarzenegger does seem to really do well with the people it may be important to note that Davis by his unpopularity was gonna make the next governer smell like a rose.

Actually, the Constitution prohibits Arnold from running for the Office of President
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Article II Section 1

His political expertise is not the qualifaction that makes Arnold ineligible.

Um... kids, Arnold CAN'T run for president. He wasn't born a US citizen. There's a law somewhere...

there is a process underway to try to ammend that.

i mean seriously, you cannot choose where you were born.not that i endorse him as an individual, but the constitution should of been a little bit more lenient.

Hehehe It's been going on since I was a youth and Kissinger was Secretary of State

Are you aware of the number of amendments proposed and not put forth for ratification?
According to a study by C-SPAN, this is a count of the number of amendments proposed in each of the sessions of Congress in the 1990's:

* 106th (1999 only): 60
* 105th (1997-98): 103
* 104th (1995-96): 158
* 103rd (1993-94): 156
* 102nd (1991-92): 165
* 101st (1989-90): 214

http://www.usconstitution.net/constamprop.html
107th Congress (2001-2002)

* Calling for the repeal of the 8th Amendment and its replacement with wording prohibiting incarceration for minor traffic offenses
* To specify that progressive income taxes must be used
* To specify a right to "equal high quality" health care
* To limit pardons granted between October 1 and January 21 of any presidential election year
* To require a balanced budget without use of Social Security Trust Fund monies
* To allow for any person who has been a citizen of the United States for twenty years or more to be eligible for the Presidency
* To force the members of Congress and the President to forfeit their salary, on a per diem basis, for every day past the end of the fiscal year that a budget for that year remains unpassed
http://www.constitutionfacts.com/bbody3.shtml
There have been close to 10,000 amendments proposed in Congress since 1789, and only a fraction of a percentage of those receive enough support to actually go through the constitutional ratification process. The success rate of an amendment to become part of the Constitution is less than 1%
