Magic Man
Reaper of Conversation
Is this not one of the best movies ever? I watched it again today for the first time in years, and it really is wonderful. I put spoilers in the title in case there are people who haven't seen it. If you haven't, I highly recommend it, but you should definitely not read beyond here. See it first.
It also brings up a lot of interesting questions. For instance, towards the end, when Det. Mills (Pitt) tells John Doe (Kevin Spacey) he's insane, and Doe says that's not true, it's just more comfortable for Mills and others to label people like him that way. It's an interesting point.
Aside from interesting points like that, the story is great, the characters are very real and well fleshed-out, and the acting is first-class, I think. The story fits well together, and each character and his actions are completely believable. And they didn't chicken out on the ending. It would have ruined it in my opinion if Mills had not killed John Doe at the end. I never gave it enough credit in the past, I think, but it truly is one of the greats, to me.
Any thoughts?
