Self-censorship is our greatest enemy.

There is an old saying that goes, “The first person to throw an insult rather than a rock founded civilisation”.

The ability to have a worldwide conversation is not something that should be taken from us.

I doubt that the EU would pay much attention to what Stefan said. It is in the EU’s interests to keep everyone in the dark. Think about Articles 11 and 13.

Facebook is no longer perceived as an honest company.

Nobody has to believe the Canadian media anymore because they have been bought and paid for by the left-wing government.

Self-censorship is our greatest enemy.

But I AM very proud of being AN EUROPEAN when most Europeans massively choose Farage, Le Pen and Salvini:););)

There's a fine line here. There's a balance between allowing inciting to violence and ordinary speech.

People are responsible to self-censor their worst instincts - that's called maturity. External restraint may be needed for the immature.

But you don't want business and government censoring normal speech - specifically the horrible model of China shows how that can be taken to total suppression of any free thought.

Mentioning the EU, I find techdirt's coverage to be excellent Article 13 stories at Techdirt. but that's not a matter of self-censorship but of governmental overreach.

Self-censorship is both an enemy and an ally. It is nowhere near the greatest of either.

Just be in a long term relationship and you'll understand.

Stefan is talking about the self-censorship that is being foisted upon us.

People are using self-censorship because they are fearful of the consequences of not doing so.
