Senator Says Critics Of Indiana Should Get 'Perspective,' Be Thankful State Doesn't Execute Gays | ThinkProgress

Idiocy aside, this guy needs to get out of public office. It is one thing to try to legislate according to your beliefs (although, in the Indiana case, it was done extremely poorly too), but to say that homosexuals should be happy because we don't execute them is unacceptable.

This guy should be happy that we don't have a policy of taking stupid senators out to the town square for public flogging.

Staking out on the town square for a public flogging is a great idea.

“I think it’s important we have a sense of perspective,” Cotton said. “In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.”

Newsflash Senator Moron... the US Supreme Court decriminalized homosexuality in 2003. But he was probably just learning how to mas... ah nevermind.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
UK news has covered the Indiana Governor's signing of that crazy State 'religious freedom' law and has also reported on some other stupid nonsense in another State (Kentucky?). It amazes us here that one person can make any law 'just like that', and the fact that is a 'dark ages' law just puts the whole US into international shame. I can imagine some third World tyranny producing this rubbish but it's just hard to believe that a US Governor supported such idiotic and dangerous junk.

Tom Cotton should stop his screaming and get some perspective, and be thankful I intend to leave him with his thumbs, forefingers & the skin below his waist T_T.

I've always been of the opinion that if you have to point to some of the world's most dysfunctional countries by comparison to make yours look good, that alone says some very bad things about your country. "At least we're more forward-thinking than the ayatollahs of Iran," is not shining praise. It does not deflect criticism, so much as it seems to invite new forms of it.

Maybe next time these reactionaries start complaining about how we haven't completely gutted social services and fired the entire public sector, we ought to say, "Stop whining, you could be in North Korea!"
