Those who went to church today - what were to sermons about?

The first one we had was about kindness (my wife gave it)
Then there was one about the Atonement.

It was 9 lessons and Carrols
we never have a sermon in a carrol service.
Though the lessons are as good as a sermon in them selves.

No sermon. I went to the Tabernacle Choir's Christmas concert and "Music and the Spoken Word" today. This is the first time I think I've ever heard their weekly broadcast not include "the spoken word." It was all music and it was INCREDIBLE!

we had two about covenants.

the first was a nuts and bolts look and the second was more practical. both very good stuff.

The first was a lesson about building the temple in Jeruselem, in the Old Testament. The second was taught by myself and another woman in our church organization for the young women (ages 12-18), we watched a movie to help us remember the real spirit of Christmas. It was Mr. Kruegar's Christmas, for all of you LDS members, you will understand that I must have been totally unprepared for my scheduled lesson to show this movie.

I didn't teach my Sunday School class today (my temple recomend is about ready to expire, and the Stake Center is about an hour away, so when I saw a member of the Stake Presidency in the hallway I asked if he could do the interview then. The only time he could was durring Sunday School), and the other class that I sent my kids into was watching a movie - probably the same one you showed.

How come only LDS and a single CofE remember about their sermon or lack of.
Yeah, I was really hoping for responses from posters other than the LDS, although the LDS responses are welcome.

Come on everyone :)

We didn't have a sermon, as the choir performed a cantata that lasted about 30 minutes. However, if you give me about an hour, I could come up with something based on the lectionary for the day...or I just paste in last year's "Advent III sermon."

Today was the 4th sunday (last day) of the season Advent. The Priest preached about preparing our hearts and minds and actions to Christ Jesus and preparing for celebrating his birth tommorrow at midnight mass. He also mentioned about how God gives us the best and how we need to give our wills to Jesus and let him lead our lives. The 4 scripture readings we had today were great. Tommorrow is my favorite scripture readings al the whole year though, all four of them.

Merry Christmas all

Today's Topic at Midnight Mass was the Bith of our Lord and savour Jesus Christ of coarse. Our beloved Pastor made several great points. to paraphrase him, he said God loved us so much that he humbled himself to become one of us and then loved us even more when he died on the cross for us.

The priest did a cool thing. He made parrelles between the two statues of Christ in our Church. One statue was the infant newborn Jesus in the large manger holding his arms and hands stetched out to all. The other statue was the Large crucifix with Jesus stretching out his hands and arms for all too being crucified for our sins.

I love midnight Mass. I love the traditional music done with organ and a wonderful Choir(we were voted #1 Catholic Choir in St louis). I love the incense, our church had clouds of it in mass. I love the chanting prayers at the eucharistic alter that my Pastor sings. And All the flowers and decorations that really add to the other statues and icons and beauty.

I also love the 4 readings we do. Isaiah 9:1-6, Psalms, 2 tim 2:11-14 Luke 2:1-14. We took with us several people including 2 non-catholics as we usually every year. Filled up two pews. It was awesome.

Happy Birthday Jesus my only God and King, my Lord and Master. My Wonder- Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, and Prince of Peace.
