Short Stories - Lessons

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
Peace be on you.
1) A women would panic when weather became cloudy, worrying about her two daughters; one was married in a family of potters and other in family of gardeners. She thought if it rained, potters would suffer, and if it did not rain, gardeners would suffer.

Sometimes people ask spiritual guide to pray which may result in loss of other dear one. Prayer for victory of truth is to be done. People is Community should resolve matters with mutual agreements rather than filing cases.

2) Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) would relate that a person went through hardships to provide higher education to his son. Son became high official. One day when son was sitting in company of lawyers and barristers, his elderly father came wearing unkempt rural clothing came to visit him. Someone in elite company asked the son who is the visitor. The son said he is their childhood care-taker. Angry father left the place saying I am care-taker of his mother…..When friends knew the reality they rebuked the son and said if they knew the truth, they would have shown respect to his father.

Hazrat Musleh Maud (may Allah be pleased with him) said kindness and courtesy to parents is obligatory on everyone but some young people do not give parents the due respect and do not fulfil duties towards parents. If they reach high office, some people are hesitant to meet their parents of humble background.

3) A preacher gave a moving lecture. A rustic farmer stopped to listen him. The audience was unmoved by preacher’s word but the farmer started to cry. The preacher presumed that his speech was very effective. He asked the farmer exactly what in the lecture had moved him so. The farmer replied that the day before his buffalo's calf had died making exactly the same sounds the preacher was making, so when he heard him, he remembered the calf and it moved him to tears. This left the preacher embarrassed.

It should be noted what a speech is about, and what could be learned. Mere attending the event is useless.

4) Faith declines when pseudo-saints start making living on the name of God. In one such case, a man was visited by his such leader and demanded his tax. The man said times were very hard, there was drought and he had nothing to give. Yet the pseudo-saint was unrelenting and eventually made the poor man sell something to pay him.

It is a favour of Allah the Exalted Ahmadis have been enabled to accept the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) and are saved from pseudo-saints.

5) A highly academic physician went to the court of a king and met with his advisor and asked him for recommendation king. The advisor thought if this man find place in court, he may lose his position in the eyes of king…… He recommended to king that he should meet the highly learned physician. King asked if he has experience in his field? The clever advisor replied, he will have experience by virtue of you…….The king said give him some reward and send him off

It is very important for the general progression of the Jama'at that young people gain experience after attaining knowledge of modern subjects. Some issues need to be tackled which can only be done through experience.

6) For progression, it is essential that Ahmadis should keep connection with Khilafat and administration of Jama'at and those means which keep them connected like MTA tv, and newspapers of Jama'at.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) used to say that Al Hakm and Badr (newspapers) were his two arms.

One uneducated Ahmadi who drove a horse carriage always purchased Al Hakm and when he felt his passengers were gentle people he would give them the paper and ask to read it to him. That is how he conveyed message. He was source of the highest number of making new Ahmadis.

Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be Helper) said Ahmadis should watch MTA for their personal training and connection with Khilafat. Friday sermons on MTA are reported to be very effective. Website of Jama'at should be introduced to others too.

7)
Once a mentally ill person grabbed hold of Galen [Jalinus: the Greek physician]. When he let Galen go, Galen asked for some bloodletting. The reason he told that it appeared that he too had some element of mania in him which the manic person was attracted to.

Company of certain type of friends affects. It is important to have ties with those who are spiritually strong.

Rather than be inclined towards people who are indolent about Salat one should be inclined towards active people and when the number of active number will increase, even the indolent will be drawn towards being active.

8) Once a person came to assembley of Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) and demanded he would accept him if he showed a miracle. Huzur (a.s.) replied Allah was not an acrobat and does not put on shows. Everything that is from Allah has wisdom. What benefit have you drawn from earlier miracles that you are in need of new one?

There are numerous signs for those who want to see. Frivolous demands have no valued in the sight of Allah and Prophets.

9) When a patient feels medicine is not curing him, doctor writes new prescription but usually he adds some new elements to previous prescription.

Hazrat Musleh Maud (r.a.) said that the scheme Tahrik e Jadid [i.e. New-Scheme: a system taught by Allah to him in response to those who came to annihilate Ahmadis in 1934, which demands for simple, active and devoted life in various respects to convey message of real-Islam worldwide: it is taking the message through missionary work worldwide.] has the word New in it but the content is ancient.

10) A beggar, when he saw someone approaching from a little distance he would start his bid at high amount. As the person approached him, the beggar would bring his bid down and gradually lower it still as the person passed him and walked off in the other direction.

If to start off there are just the odd person, gradually with effort they will increase. We should do our tasks and see what the results are! When even worldly matters are not without results how it can be that moral and spiritual tasks will be without results?

How foolish it is to associate one's own weakness and failing to God. It is God's law that whatever we do has a consequence destined. Good or bad consequence is dependent on our own task.

Some people say they make great effort in worship of God but do not achieve their objective, their prayers are not accepted. It only means they have has not quite reached the stage they need to be at or they have not adopted the right way.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said when alchemist [those who would do effort to make gold by various methods] is unsuccessful he says temperature was not right but he never loses hope. However, if a person who wishes to attain nearness to God is not successful, he does not put it down to any defect in his practice, rather he loses hope in God and stops making effort.

Self analyse, focus on worship of God, abiding His directives, correcting thought and intellect bring results.

God states that He is near and He listens to prays of the supplicant. Thus if one does not feel that God is near and does not experience acceptance of prayers, then somewhere along the way something is deficient in the human effort.

11) Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said there were two types of beggars. There are beggars who call out and take whatever is given, and if nothing is given they move on after two or three calls. Then, there are those beggars who cannot be turned away unless they get what is begged. This kind of beggars are very few. In terms of acceptance of prayer, it is important that one is like the second type of beggar and keeps on asking and does not stop until such time that act of God proves that prayer about a specific matter should be ceased.

For example these days gender of an unborn baby can be found out, and in latter part of pregnancy it can be found out with quite certainty. To continue to pray in such a situation for a certain is against the act of God. Indeed, prayer for future grant of choice can be made. At times, Allah discloses His will and to continue to pray against His will in such a situation is discourteous…….Planning and prayers go side by side.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) used to say that to pray without planning is wrong and the prayer of such a person is thrown back on him because to pray and not plan is against the law of God. It is tantamount to testing God and it is contrary to the dignity of God that man should test Him.

May we, with resoluteness, mould our condition in accordance with pleasure of Allah and may we pray with the apparent prerequisites.
