Should America split up?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Obviously there was a civil war the first time, but now some are wondering if it would be the best, considering the deep divisions that exist perhaps irreparably, givin the continuous gridlock that is approaching decades now with no true concessions in sight.

Maybe It’s Time for America to Split Up

What do you think?

I suspect that if more of our politicians were ethical, we'd find that the differences between red and blue states would be smaller than what we're told. In other words, i think Americans agree more than they disagree, but our politicians are fueling the differences for their own shortsighted, personal, selfish gains.

That depends if the people responsible for the 1st civil war can get over their racism.
If they can't, they need to start putting plans together for their conservative utopia. You can have the bible belt.

I don't see how this would be anything but a giant cluster. I'd probably have to immigrate back and forth between two countries just to visit my parents in Arizona. The logistics of the whole thing would be a mess and would likely leave us worse off.

Yes, because then the USA can destroy itself and the people who want to destroy us can destroy themselves on us. It'd be a wonderful reset.

It should decentralise.

Increase powers at the state and sub-state levels and decrease the powers of the federal government.

The current 'winner takes all' 2 party system is the main cause of the animosity.

To an outsider, there does appear to be two very different (and opposing) mindsets. Is it temporary though? Or are the two moving further apart or closer together?
Personally, I don't see it's an issue of the politicians; they are simply the manifestations of these mindsets. A politician is a symptom not a cause.

I see the future will be founded in unity, not further division.

Regards Tony
Can there be unity when there is no basis on which all can agree upon?
Like free and equal elections? When one part of the country wants to get rid of those it's time to think about a split.

That doesn't exactly suggest the future is rosy as one nation!

ahh, but together, they may be forced to get along, and patch things up.....or at least last long enough to vote all the causes of this, on both sides of the aisle, out of office....but to be honest, I don't have that much faith in the American voter

How many split up divisions do you propose to separate the many hostile divisions in the USA. It has been gowing for many years the extreme right wing is growing from a mix of evangelical Christian movements and the resurection of anti-semetism and racism. Recent movements such as Qanon have agrevated the divisions by promoting inhuman beliefs and principles.

Almost every state has at least several populations hostile tward each other. How do you divide the state up?

It probably wouldn't change anything, and it would likely make things worse for all parts of America.
