Should Christians pray in Jesus name or in the name of the Trinity?

Should Christians pray in Jesus name or in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit? Examples from the Bible and Tradition would be welcome. I don't think either is wrong but which is best? Please post your opinion along with your reasoning in this thread.

Most of the time I, and others I know, pray in the Name of Jesus, adding an ascription to the Trinity. One "formal" formula is:

"...through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you (assuming the prayer is prayed to God) and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever."

It acknowledges that our prayers are mediated through Christ, who is a person of God, just as are the Father and the Holy Spirit. It recognizes the work of all three persons in the spiritual life of the Faithful.

Hey that makes sense and I have heard of that formula of prayer before too. I might try that sometime. :)

I believe we should pray to the Father in the name of the Son.
