No because it's incredibly risky. The Republicans only have to delay the new appointment past Jan 20th and Trump has the open position to install yet another right winger. That's on the assumption that she would have to resign before Biden could initiate the appointment of the new justice. If that's not the case (in other words if the new appointment failed she could simply carry on) then it's yes, worth a try.

Thomas and Alito have to wait until Trump is President so he can appoint appoint new (and much younger, which would be the point) conservative justices.

Not really. Just the opinions of a few Ds. She is healthy and should be able to outlast Trump's 4 years.
It did. If you don't understand why the Democrats are discussing this possibility you should ask them. I am not the one proposing it. The prospect is not just outlasting Trump. The is the plausible possibility of future Vance Presidency. She is 70 years old with diabetes. It is a real possibility she will be able to stay on the bench until a Democrat is President. It is a low probability but high risk calculus.

It is risky. The prospect is a low probability but high potential down side. Hence the discussion among Democrats. I agree it is probably unwise. But I never underestimate the Democrat ability to muck things up for themselves.

Seems like age is only an issue if it's a Dem. Biden is too old, but not Trump (that stuff utterly vanished when Biden stepped down), and now someone who reasonably probably has more than four years should retire? Pathetic. It's too risky and especially very ****ing rude to treat people like pawns in a game.
