Read this report on the ABC;
The key take aways in my view were;
- 'at least 2,500 investors in Australia who own or part-own 10 or more rental properties.'
- 'the data highlighted how many of the benefits of negative gearing and the capital gains discount went to the largest investors.'
- 'ABS data showed only about 23 per cent of investor loans were for new housing.'
I wasn't honestly sure if it is worth debating this since the government doesn't plan to take any changes to the next election, but perhaps it's interesting enough to discuss anyway in my view.
New data reveals thousands of Australians who own 10 rentals or more
Investors with 10 or more properties to their name have more debt than smaller-scale investors but use negative gearing and capital gains discounts to keep buying, tax office data shows.
