I guess it depends on just how much you really want to know about them. How would we feel to find out that our politicians were not only crooks, but on drugs too? On second thought , that would explain a lot.

Running for public office is not a probably cause or reasonable suspicion for drug use. No, they (or anyone) shouldn't be drug tested unless there is a specific reason to suspect use, and even, only if they (like anyone else) is showing up to work high.

No. This is witch hunt territory as we are trying to find something wrong with people we don't like. I'd say the same about blacks who get searched by cops. There has to be reasonable grounds for such an invasion of privacy beyond a moral panic over drug use or politicians private lives.

In general I'm not in favour, but if they are advocating other people be forcibly drug tested (aside from for public safety reasons) then they should be forced to do likewise.

Politicians receive state financing as welfare recipients do so what's good for the goose...

No. I don't think anyone should be drug tested by force. However, for higher political offices, such as president, their IQ should be tested and made public. I don't have a problem with a stoner president, and I doubt that anyone would even know that the president did drugs, but a stupid president would be a terrible thing.

And not to mention it's a stereotype that has no basis in reality that stoners are stupid.
But, if instead of charges for vacations to exotic locations a president is taking time off with laser lights and Pink Floyd vinyls, we could say we potentially have our first stoner president.
