Siddhis

How, if in any way, can Siddhis be used without them being determinable to you? I read some time ago that if you misused Siddhis you could loose them. Is this true?

If Siddhis are distractions as some writers say, a spiritual trap for those who become obsessed with them, then why are they byproducts of yoga and meditation? At least one book I read said that you should just ignore them and keep working towards Moksha.

Is there anything wrong with desiring Siddhis if you only intend to use them for good or for ways that you believe will help you spiritually?

About 1-2 years ago I felt my Siddhis fading after some life events and spiritual problems. During that time I would occasionally feel them come back, but it would usually only be during heightened spiritual moments.. But lately I've felt them come back in a more persistent manner, and I'm trying to figure out what I should do with them, if anything.

I think the recommendation by many wise teachers to not concern yourself with such physical or super-physical abilities. It is a distraction on the way to the true goal; God-Realization. Siddhis will naturally come as one ascends the layers of spirituality (after all, in the end, all of this matter is just God for those that can realize that). To demonstrate siddhis (yogic powers) is an easy trap for the ego which experiences the amazement and respect and esteem from others; i.e. it can be an ego draw in the wrong direction.

Can you please give me examples of some of the strongest siddhi experiences you have had? Were they spontaneous or under control?

What is this feeling you get?

Awareness. I feel the gunas as if they were flowing streams of energy in the environment around me. I start to sense spirits and can talk to them. I can speak to gods if they wish to. I see glimpses of metaphysical relationships and truths in shapes and patterns that look like yantras and mandalas.

I don't know what would be considered the "strongest". Overall the most powerful experiences were in controlled environments where I was planning (often days in advance) to use them for good. I can only think of 2-3 times that it was spontaneous that it was as powerful as the typically planned ones.

Siddhis are fine, but the goal is samadhi. Don't let yourself be distracted by tricks and wonders.

Mandi, when you are in the 'siddhi' phase, can you come to New Delhi and meet me? It is said that a 'siddha' could travel anywhere at will. So, what you feel may be a mirage Just continue with your normal worship and ask deities to make you more practical. That is what I will suggest for now. Regards.

Sorry, I am still not clear what you are talking about. Can you give one good example?
